Peter Jennings Dead at 67

NEW YORK (Aug. 8) - Peter Jennings, the suave, Canadian-born broadcaster who delivered the news to Americans each night in five separate decades, died Sunday. He was 67.

Mr. Jennings was a consummate professional, in my opinion. He had great charisma and a commanding, authorative presence on the screen. Pray for his family in this difficult time.

Also. I was listening to Laura Ingraham's program on Friday, and she played a sound clip from a speech by US Rep. Maxine Waters (D) CA, who was speaking to a meeting of two rival street gangs, the Bloods and the Crips. I searched all weekend for the text of that speech, but was unable to find it.

In the part of the speech that I heard, Ms. Waters exhorts the gathering of murderers and drug dealers to "...instead of fighting each other, fight [President]Bush."

Admittedly, I am not well educated on the Smith act, but I am fairly certain that it made it illegal to advocate the violent overthrow of the United States. I know the question of semantics will inevitably be brought up by those who would tend to agree with the anti-Bush sentiment. She didn't say they should violently overthrow the United States. No, but she might as well have.

President Bush is the President of the United States, and as such, deserves the same respect and status. For Maxine Waters to encourage known murderers to "fight" him is tantamount to encouraging violence against him.

Think about it. These aren't lawyers or congressmen, or senators, or doctors or mine workers, or any other segment of law abiding citizens she is talking to here. They are murderers and thugs. To them, the words "fight" and "kill" are synonymous.

If Maxine Waters isn't brought up on charges of Treason, she should at least be censured and/or recalled by her constituents. She has often been way over the top critical of the President and his administration.

She is an embarrassment to America, California, and even her own party.

At least, that's the opinion of your humble friend and uneducated blogger. I could be wrong.

I didn't know Bush spoke that language, Press.......LOL!

I'm not sure I would have said anything if I were Bush......But he is a good man for doing so.

Waters is a radical pig with questionable intelligence. She's called Bush a liar & Cheney a thief. She's ugly as sin, too. Just your run of the mill Democrat. No surprise there.

frenziedfeline...I'm right up that creek with you, being in the Los Angeles area. I love all the cars that still have Kerry/Edwards plastered to their bumpers. Makes me feel giddy, remembering the outcome Nov 5, 2005. Ah, what a wonderful day!

Mark, in my opinion, Waters is only one of a myriad of senators who should be brought up on charges for seditious comments and treasonous acts.
My deepest regret is that I have no personal means to remove her and her ilk from power. I cannot vote for or against her, or Kennedy, Or Durbin, or Reid...
Yet they have the power to make policy by which I and my family must live.
In some ways, Representative Republics SUCK!

Ceiling fans?

Waters is completely off the wall. She won't be censured though. The Dems eat that stuff up.

Compare what she said to what Rove said about the liberal reaction to 9/11. The Dems pitched a fit, even though Rove was right. Dean did say bin Laden should stand trial, innocent until proven guilty. That's on the record.

If Republicans called out every Dem that says something bordering on treason, they would have no time left to accomplish anything else.

I think Waters and other politicians using those tactics are a disgrace to our country.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Jennings family.

If you scoot around this website a bit, you will see a number of blogs written in the style of the anonymous postings here. Matter of fact, a fair amount of the blogs on here are weird attempts to sell things, written in this computer barf/borderline English.
I'm sort of thinking that those ones might have posted automatically.

Ah-and I was sorry to see Peter Jennings go, too. He was always right there with something real to say-not just a jabbering head. You could tell there was a brain in there, and on television, that's extremely rare. I miss the guy already.

And, to F.L.-Bush did, in fact, lie, and Cheney is, in fact, profiting personally from all of this misery (not a bad approximation of theft, I'd say).
And as to the 'ugly': glass houses, buddy.

Rich bachelor, I assume, since you don't say what Bush lied about or what Cheney stole, that you either don't know or don't have any evidence.

However, if you are talking about Bush's justification for going to Iraq, he was given mistaken (as far as we know) intelligence. That is not lying, that is acting in faith in bad information. You mught want to ask Webster about what the word lie means.

As far as Cheney, once again you fail to mention what he stole, but I assume you are talking about his employment at Hallibirton. Once again, if that is what you're referring to, you arer wrong again. Cheney no longer works for Halliburton, nor was he working for them when he became Vice President, therefore, whatever Halliburton profits from all of this misery has nothing whatsoever to do with Cheney, personally.
