New Policy: Zero Tolerance for Jerks

"Shake a leg Junior! Thank God your mammy died givin' birth. If she'd have seen you, she'd have died o' shame." -- Governor Menelaus 'Pappy' O'Daniel from "O brother, where art thou?"

I have had just about all I can take from the likes of the anonymous "Bruiser". For that reason I have re-enabled comment moderation because I discovered, during my recent experiment with it, that it seems to repel Bruiser and others of his ilk.

I have tried to be tolerant of his lunacy and up to now, have allowed him to post whatever poison he wanted to, but I see now I was wrong to do that. My purpose for doing that was so that the readers who frequent my blog could see moonbattery lunacy at it's worst but it seems allowing him to comment only encouraged him to be bolder and more offensive.

Apparently, the only reason people like him bother to comment on our blogs is so they can see their own hateful words in print. None of them even tried to leave a comment on my blog when moderation was enabled, which tells me that if they can't be seen, they don't even consider their own opinions worth voicing.

It is what I expected. All they want to do is instigate fights. They have nothing to lend to the conversation. Incidently, this is so typical of the Liberals in this country. They have one platform:

Hate Bush. Hate Bush. Hate Bush. Nothing more. Nothing positive to offer. No Solutions. No ideas. No brains. If Bruiser wants to spew his hateful venom on the internet I suggest he start his own blog.

Bruiser and his kind causes one to understand why some animals eat their young. Perhaps Bruiser was just too fast for his mother to catch before he got away.

Note to Bruiser and his cohorts: If you want to comment and you have something pertinent and respectful to say, even if you disagree, as long as you are respectful, I will post your comment.

Aww...but Jesus still loves him; yes He does!

Personally,

He is so far out there, and seldom on-topic, he never bothered me a great deal. Also, he always seemed scatter-brained; just all-across the board, to get in his talking points since he doesn't seem to have his own blog to leave them all on.

Oh well...I think his posts do speak more ill of him than anything else; but it's your blog and I can't really blame you for tiring of his drivel that rarely adds anything insightful. And that's being generous, I know. Just chalk it up to the polite, compassionate conservative in me.

God may forgive you, but I won't.
Yes, Jesus loves you, but I don't.
He don't have to live with you,
And neither do I.
You say that your born again,
Well, so am I.
God may forgive you, but I won't.
I won't even try. --Iris Dement

Mark You have the right to edit your own blog.

I have visited blogs that have a fair amount to both sides of the coin and with some "Hall Monitoring" by everyone has been able to keep the naughty words and really mean name calling off.

I've seen the odd man out like Bruiser that disrupts and is shunned until they get better.

It takes a consensus of people who want to disguss the issue on the blog to help the blog master.

Do you want (to borrow a phrase) fair and balanced discussion or do you want to limit your blog to a one sided statement. Frankly, that becomes kind of boring after a while.

The trick is for all of us to respond to anyone who attacks personally, in the "Hey you that was rude stop that". What works is also this one.

"Hit and Run tactics aren't very productive." "I am interested in your opinon. I can see your an intelligent person. Why don't you stop all the attacks and lets have a great debate."

It's your choice Mark. But the last week or so, there have been some great stuff on your blog. Some of it has to do with the amount of people who are starting to notice it.

If you need help, the rest of us in this community should be helping you monitor.

I would say let us help you and don't put that blasted editor up again.

Word, Tug, Sheila, Gayle, and the rest are good Hall Monitors. Just ask us and we'll help.

One more...maybe helpful insight.

Fritz who I introduced to "4 rows". I've seen in the last couple of weeks, Fritz has been complimented on his comments from your constiuents.

Fritz on Crawfordslist about six months ago was like Bruiser. LOL Heats my blood to thinck of some of the stuff.

Being a pretty tolerant bunch in those days, we slammed him with ettiquette until he started making civil postings. We've slammed everyone who comes on and isn't civil Right, Left, Red, Blue, Purple.

just recently I had a person who's position is not opposite of mine, but rude none the less come down on me for clipping him nicely on his swearing. The rest of the community that was in attendance, gainged up with me and even showed him how to swear like this...!@#$$% LOL

We could tell he was young and made him think before he wrote something.

Fritz is great! We may not agree on most because the boy is a true NEOCON. But if it wasn't for Fritz and his buddies, it would be too boring. No insight what so ever.

When ever Fritz gets totally out of line, the Phrase, "not so minty fresh, I'm leaving", gets posted and everyone clears out. Fritz has figured that one out and would rather have us there.

Get my drift Mark? It's still your call. But I'd much rather see a lot of interesting posts on your blog than nothing.

Good Luck! Time for work.

It's just not positive debate.

But this is the reason people like that keep showing up here: They're just like you at your worst. You've estaboiahed the baseline, and you reaffirm every time you post bullshot like this:

"Incidently, this is so typical of the Liberals in this country. They have one platform:

"Hate Bush. Hate Bush. Hate Bush. Nothing more. Nothing positive to offer. No Solutions. No ideas. No brains."

So, quit dishing out your own hate, and mabye you'll quit attracting hateful commenters.

Erudite Redneck said...

Oh, and whoever Iris Dement is, he or she worships him or herself, apparently -- 'cause that sure ain;t a Christian sentiment. No way.

Maybe you should emply Haloscan. That way, I think, you can just ban certain commenters outright, and not have the joy of the power play that comes with judging each comment as it comes. Oh. Maybe that's what you're after. :-) (jab-jab)

Erudite Redneck said...

I looked up Iris Dement. Holy crap, Mark. Why are you quoting a lefty folk singer?? I don't think you can tell Conservative from Shinola.

Sheila said...

Redneck,

"So typical of Liberals".....I could say the same of you. I've seen a lot of real live mean rude nasty Conservatives. It is so freakin negative and solves nothing.

Why say that when there ARE "Liberals" on this blog that make great contributions....unless your one of those few who want a one sided slant on Marks Blog.

That way your more comfortable?

Mark said...

I don't care if Iris dement is leftist or not. I like her music, and she's more country than folk. I also like Barbra Streisand's music. And Tim Roggins' work and Susan Sarandons, and on and on and on. I can like the artists work without liking their ideology. Can't you?

I quoted "O brother where art thou", starring George Clooney. I like his work, too. Heck, I even like Sean Penn's work!

I also like Al Franken's humor except when he is just being mean. I can make a whole post on artists whose work I like but not their politics.

And, ER, if you are offended at my assessment of Liberals. I never considered you so far left to include you in that group of far left extremists. But if you want to identify with the wacko's that is your choice.

Sheila, I will take your advice under consideration. Bruiser just goes over the line sometimes and I get mad. I may go back to not moderating comments. It depends on how I feel.

tugboatcapn said...

ER, you left out the part where you call Mark a Hypocrite for changing his mind again...

tugboatcapn said...

Jab, jab...

Erudite Redneck said...

I don't understand Sheila's comment. Is she calling me a conservative?

Mark, I'm jabbing at you, again, for making blanket, dismissive statements and then acting surprised when it comes back to you in like form.

Mark, you seem as as full of hate as the next guy sometimes.

But I give up. I'm apparently not making myself clear to either of y'all.

Erudite Redneck said...

Oh, I'm trying harder to keep the H-word holstered. I'm all for changing one's mind -- it's the only way any of us ever learn anything.

Erudite Redneck said...

But that Iris Dement quote is totally, totally unChristian.

Mark said...

LOL. Yeah it is, ER, but it's a great song!

Anonymous said...

Personally, I'm a little tired of ER judging what's Christian and what isn't. Sheila's suggestion of everyone helping moderate smacks of "It Takes A Village." What drivel.

It's your blog, Mark. Do what you want.

Erudite Redneck said...

And to yer "drivel," I say: "Piffle!"
:-)

tugboatcapn said...

Amen.

For someone who doesn't like FOTF trying to keep the Name of Christ associated with Christmas, and wants any mention of God, Jesus, or anything even remotely Biblical completely restricted from mention within 1000 feet of anything payed for with taxpayer money, ER sure doesn't seem to have a problem with whipping Jesus out to beat people over the head with on their Blogs...

Er, let me point out to you that the only time in the whole New Testament when Jesus resorted to violence was to purge the Temple of those who were using the Church for their own purposes.

Whether it is FOTF doing it, or you, it's still wrong.

Mike's America said...

Mark: You made the right decision. Bruisers only purpose is to spread hate and disinformation. There is nothing constructive to what he has to say.

I suspect he was the one posing as "Mike's America" which is how I came to know your blog. That's probably the only good thing he has ever done, but by way of being a malacious fraud.

Folks like Bruiser do serve a limited purpose by demonstrating how totally bankrupt of ideas many on the left are.

Surely, there are some lefties out there who are not barking moonbats, and they more than anyone else should be embarrassed by the likes of Bruiser.

Erudite Redneck said...

Well. I guess I've been put in my place.

I will therefore limit my pointing out the obvious as regards appropriate expressions of faith in the public sphere to my own place.

I have rarely, if ever, used foul language, I am rarely mean about it, but of course, sometimes I am because I'm human.

Nobody else around here seems to have actually READ what Jesus Himself had to say about things that do have ramifications for the public issues of our day.

Well, y'all know where the Bibles are. I leave it to y'all to read it.

Tug, I'm hurt. To equate my little remarks here with the Wal-Martization of the Temple back in the day is overkill.

Fine. I'll take my concern for my supposed brethren who hang out in this space and go home to my own.

Hank Ford said...

Mike once again anything contrary to your Neocon beliefs and you just fall to the side of "all lefty's" & "moonbat's" (still something I don't fully get) and "UnAmerican".

What is truly UnAmerican is censorship and when you and yours feel compelled to partake in such a devalued coarse of action than your true colors are sure to come out as they have here.

Mike teaches and preaches hate and you love him for it because he stands under the bust of Reagan.

Bruiser preaches against your topics and you have yet again no tolerance. How very UnChristian UnDemocratic & downright UnAmerican.

tugboatcapn said...

Hank, Censorship only comes from Government.

This is Mark's Forum, and he has every right to control the content here.

You and Bruiser are free as birds to say whatever you like on your own Blogs. Mark is under no obligation to provide either of you a forum for your opinions or ideas.

Mike's version of hate pales in comparison to the hatred preached by most liberal Bloggers, and most Elected Democrat leaders, and again, he is entitled to his opinion, just like you are.

If Mike and Mark agree, then Mark is free to allow his comments, even if they offend YOU.

He allowed YOUR comment.

ER, you know that I like you, but you do occaisionally use Jesus for your own purposes. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, but I call it like I see it. This isn't the first time I have seen you do it.

Mark, carry on. You have a good place here. You allow every viewpoint, as long as the commentors are civil, even with the comment moderation enabled.

Erudite Redneck said...

Actually, if anyone is offended, they're offended by the name of Jesus, not by me. I just quote the Dude. Tug chastised me for chastising Mark. That's wack. Some kid of a Mexican Scripture stand-off.

But. What. Ever. The right rights' Jesus ain't my Jesus. They've remade him in their own image.

Now, any of y'all can have the last word. I am done casting pearls before swine.

Daffy76 said...

YEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAH! ER, saddle up and ride that high horse a little longer. But get this--I am not offended at the name of Jesus, but I am getting a little tired of you thinking you're the only one who knows him or has read the Bible.

I think it was you who told me a long time ago that I didn't have the right to judge people. So stop it. Next time try adding to the discussion without giving us your OPINION on how to be Christlike.

Toad734 said...

In contrast, it is still America and freedom of speech is still welcomed over at The Toad Report. You know the government still edits and censors all news reports in China, Cuba, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and in Iraq the news is written by our government. I thought you wanted to set yourself apart from people like that.

Of course if someone is putting ads up or insulting your mother that is one thing but are you sure that these offending comments aren't just something that you didn't want to hear?

Toad734 said...

Mike:

Funny, thats exactly what we think about you.

Mark while your at it can you censor Mike as well.
