McCain Picks A Winner

"Now, no one expects us to agree on everything, whether in Juneau or in Washington. But we are expected to govern with integrity, and goodwill, and clear convictions, and a servant's heart.
"
~ Sarah Palin

Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican candidate for President has chosen Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, to be his running mate in the upcoming Presidential election.

I approve, I approve.

Palin, a strong Conservative, is the perfect contrast to McCain, who has often been a disappointment to many Conservatives, myself included, on several important key issues.

The Obama campaign is already attacking McCain's choice, saying "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," a curious attack indeed coming from one who has even less experience than Palin.

I for one, am happy that Obama's people understand that concept. Since McCain has seventy-two years worth of heartbeats already used up, I'm glad there is someone who is more than capable of running the government should, God forbid, it become necessary.

One cannot say the same for either candidate on the Democratic ticket. One is the most incompetent man in the Senate, and one is the dumbest.

And those adjectives are interchangeable.

Incidentally, Palin is the only one of the four Presidential and vice Presidential candidates with experience at running a government, a fact that seems to be lost on Obama's people. They completely ignored the fact that Palin is a Governor, not a mayor.

I have a lot more confidence about the Republicans chances to win the election than I did previously, thanks to Sarah Palin. I can't say I'm as confident as most Conservative Republicans, but that's because I know how the Liberally biased media will treat her. Already, they have launched an investigation into why she fired some state officer. In all likelihood, it will turn out that he was fired because he didn't do his job, but the media will do their best to spin it to make it appear she had some selfish motive.

That won't be a problem. No doubt McCain's people have anticipated the expected media attack dogs and are ready for them.

This pick will energize the Conservative base, which was until now, rather skeptical of McCain's rather leftist leanings. Moreover, Palin's spot on the ticket should garner votes from the Hillary voters who feel abandoned by the Democratic party.

McCain should get moderate and independent votes, and the addition of Palin to the ticket will help him get Conservative votes. It is an ingenius strategic move by the McCain campaign.

Congratulations, Senator McCain, on an outstanding choice!

How can anyone argue with someone with the lack of credibility to say such an asinine thing?

Mark said...

Anon, who said I wanted to argue? That is my opinion, and I am entitled to it, as you are entitled to yours.

You have the right to be wrong, and you exercise it everytime you attempt to argue with me. I don't argue. I don't try to reason with fools or talk sense to the senseless.

Move along, Anon. No one biting here.

I have never seen the Democrats in such a tizzy. Their hatred is demonic and started before she was even named. If anyone wants to see the difference between liberals and conservatives, all they have to do is look at the left-wing smear sites. Bill O'Reilly is going to have a field day. Democrats are definitely worried.

From Andrew Sullivan:

We have had two big presidential decisions from both candidates - the first time we can clearly judge their decision-making skills. Obama's was prudent, cautious, thoroughly vetted, and serious about governing. McCain's was impulsive, rash, barely vetted and decided at the last minute by a small coterie that left everyone else gasping.

We are at war. Another 9/11 is possible. Israel may attack Iran. Pakistan may go up in smoke. Putin may invade another country. Who would you rather have as president?

Mark said...

It's no contest, Jim. I'd vote for anyone other than Obama. He is an idiot, like you.

Palin is a great choice, who admittedly, has little foreign policy experience, but much more than Obama has, which is none.

She has experience at running an entire Government while the know-nothing, do-nothing Obama has none. And he is not just a Vice Presidential candidate like her, but a Presidential candidate that should have some valid credentials to even be considered for the job, but he doesn't.

Finally, you quote somebody (Andrew Sullivan) making an accusation about McCain that he couldn't possibly know. It's just Sullivan's opinion. When Palin was introduced the commentator at the announcement said those responsible for vetting the Vice Presidential candidate had researched all candidates thoroughly, and had chosen her because she is the best possible of all of them.

As I said, McCain picked a winner. Something Obama doesn't have the brains to do.

Would you have said that if you knew Palin's 17 year old high school unmarried daughter was knocked up?

"Would you have said that if you knew Palin's 17 year old high school unmarried daughter was knocked up?"

Yes. What does that have to do with her qualifications to be Vice President?

Lone Ranger said...

See what I mean? These Democrats have become totally unhinged! Knocked up? Who uses that language? Bristol is going to marry the father and keep the baby. Obama has said he would not want his daughter "punished" with a baby. The Palin baby will grow up to live a full life and maybe even become president one day. An Obama child would end up in a landfill. Democrats have no ammunition to use against true family values. And when these lefties claim to hate judgmental people and then go on to judge a family like Sarah Palin's, they are exposed as hypocrites. It's a no-win situation for the Dems. Have you notices that nobody is talking about McCain and Biden? All the buzz is about Obama and Palin. For the first time in history, the person at the top of the Democrat ticket is running against the person at the bottom of the Republican ticket. That's new. That's different. That's change.

I still wasn't sure I could even vote for McCain until he picked Palin. Now I'm ecstatic, I never thought he would be brave enough or smart enough to pick her but I'm glad I was wrong.

ER,

Are you suggesting that you would be able to discern when children within your household are acting in a manner with which you disagree? Are you saying that such lack of extra-sensory skills disqualifies a candidate? You support Obama and call Palin clueless? Ironic.

Come on Mark - was this the best the GOP could do?

Mark said...

"was this the best the GOP could do?"

I don't know, anon. But since she was being thoroughly vetted since February, I would say they made what they think is the best decision.

Obama's people came up with the dumbest man in the senate to run for Vice President. I'd say the Republicans made a much more intelligent decision than the Democrats.

I can tell you this. McCain's VP pick changed my mind about voting. This was a brilliant move - shows that McCain is surrounding by good advisers - whom hopefully he'll bring with him all the way to the White House.

Erudite Redneck said...

MA, no, no, I was just taunting.

BTW, it really was remarkable at first: Dems and Repubs both were ecstatic over Palin. That threw me.

Now, seeing y'all lap her up like some sort of savior -- because, well, she Is, possibly, weirdly, and pathetically, the saviour for a losing candidate -- some Dems are starting to sweat.

Myself, I am a little concerned that the freshness of the Palin family, and the sheer balls on McCain's part in selecting her, are going to get the ticket lots of support from everyday independents who (foolishly, in my view) "vote for the man," or the woman, in this case.

But, I think that 1., the novelty will wear off by next Monday, and 2., more skeletons are fixin' to come tumblin' out of the Palin family closet.

A guy at work today said to me, "They're (the Palins) just like us! (meaning everyday people)."

And he's right. But I think more people than not want someone clearly BETTER than themselves in the WH -- and neither McCain, nor Palin, is better than most of us.

The moonbats, like ER, are just beside themselves with jealousy and hate aren't they? They threw Hillary under the bus for a guy that said a beam of light will shine down on him from "somewhere" and cause people to vote for him. I don't know if that's before or after he causes the oceans to recede (his words).

Sarah Palin is an authentic American Hero, and no, she's not a perfect rockstar demi-god like Obama, she's one of us.

Obama studied Foreign Relations at Columbia--that alone disqualifies him for the presidency in our eyes.

I'd rather Sarah's honest common sense Christian steady finger on the button than O'bama's shaky Marxist anti-American finger any day.

OH MY!

Erudite Redneck said...

Trader Rick, for God's sake, if you seen anything moonbattish in my comment above, you need to stand down. Point out the jealousy, or the hate.

Jeez. Us. Can't a guy disagree without somebody around here showing his ass? Calm down, man.

Obama's "decision making skills" revealed that he knows he doesn't have enough experience to be president. Ironically, his running mate doesn't think so either, nor do half the people who spoke at his convention. Yet he ran anyway.

I think the pick was brilliant, for a number of reasons.

Mark, I believe that if anyone wasn't properly vetted in this election, it is Obama himself. There is still too much we don't know about him and far too many unanswered questions.

As far as McCain choosing Gov. Palin as his running mate, that is first smart thing he has done and I approve whole-heartedly.

Jim said...

Hey father! Just what is it that you don't know about Obama? You guys keep saying that, so you are apparently not watching TV, reading any newspapers or magazines or websites.

What exactly is it that you don't know?

"that is first smart thing he has done" Well, that speaks volumes about his record. Why would you support him if this is the FIRST smart thing he has done?

Mark said...

Well, Abouna? I hate to admit it, but Jim has a point. He's thrown down the guantlet. What say you?

Jim, Can you tell us just three things Obama has accomplished that qualifies him to be President. Just three things. Be specific. That's all I ask.

Take your time. We'll wait here.

Mark said...

I don't know how Father Gregori will respond, Jim, but I bet it has something to do with McCains pandering to the Liberals.

There is much about McCain that I find lacking as well, but he is much more qualified to be President than your boy, Obama. Especially since he made such a stellar choice for running mate. That goes a long way towards earning my support. In fact, before he chose Palin, I wasn't sure I even wanted to vote for him.

I was absolutely sure I wouldn't vote for Obama rama ding dong.
