The Real Imminent Threat To America

"I have to tell you that we are facing a situation, where if we don't control immigration, legal and illegal, we will eventually reach the point where it won't be what kind of a nation we are, balkanized or united, we will actually have to face the fact that we are no longer a nation at all." ~ Tom Tancredo

Garsh, that last post was a horrible one! Obviously, I didn't do much research before writing it, but it just shows how my twisted little mind works at times. Sometimes I just sit down and start typing and whatever flows from the end of my now arthritic fingers spills out onto the monitor and into cyberspace.

How unforgiving the world wide web can be!

Oh well, at least it helped to point out a couple of inadequacies in our culture:

1. AOL is not the place to get one's news. Thanks go out to all my blogger friends who didn't point out the stupidity of my last post and a special thanks to the one who did. (I had already decided to write this post before you posted that last comment, Goat)

2. The glaring problem of illegal immigration and it's affect on our culture.

I can't help but wonder how the lawmakers in this country don't see the most painfully obvious problem with illegal immigration. The fact that anyone can enter this country illegally regardless of intent, if they know how. And what is becoming even more painfully obvious is that more and more are learning how.

I have been working in Northern Virginia for the last couple of months, and I have noticed the Hispanic population there is completely out of control. As I have mentioned before, I don't know what percentage of them are illegal, but I'm reasonably sure that a majority of them are. So few of them speak or understand even a minimum of English points to that fact. I even ran across one woman who not only didn't know a word of English, she couldn't even read Spanish!

I simply cannot believe that people like that are legal.

I don't know how much English is required to be able to become a naturalized citizen in this country, but I'll bet one has to learn at least enough to carry on a conversation in English.

In another recent stupid entry I posted, I said I think if illegals want to become legal, they should be required to learn conversational English. If not, they should be deported. And I still believe that it should be required as part of the naturalization process. But that process should only be extended to those who apply for citizenship legally.

I also stated, in that entry, that it would be next to impossible to deport all the illegal aliens, but upon further reflection, I think we are doing grave harm to our country if we don't at least make a serious concerted effort to round up every last one of them and deport them permanently, and also erect a better, more imposing, more impenetrable wall between the US and Mexico. And while we're at it, I believe we should do the same at the Canadian border.

As I said, I don't understand how the lawmakers in this country don't see the potential danger to this country's security, due to so many unchecked illegal immigrants. My God, they are practically overrunning our nation's capital! They are right under Congress' nose! I realize that President Bush, due to security concerns, doesn't get many opportunities to observe firsthand the prevalence of non-English speaking immigrants, but surely most of the Members of Congress and Senators no doubt come into direct contact with illegal immigrants daily as they live, shop, and worship in the DC area.

Yes, I agree it's true that most of them are law abiding, hard working, friendly people, who came into this country to obtain a higher quality of life for themselves and their families. And the way their families pull together to ensure that better life is inspiring. It is rare to come across a household of Latinos in the DC area, that doesn't consist of father, mother, children, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents and friends all living and working together under the same roof. The cooperation that is required to sustain that kind of lifestyle is admirable, to say the least.

But let us not forget something: If friendly law abiding hard working Hispanics can enter this country illegally, so can law breaking, hate filled, potentially deadly terrorists. The recent Fort Dix plot underscored the need for improved border reinforcement and stricter immigration laws.

How many more Fort Dix six's are there out there even now?

We were lucky this time. It makes us wonder what could or would have happened if that Circuit City employee hadn't become suspicious and alerted authorities to what he discovered on that tape. Next time, there may not be an alert citizen to disrupt the plans of potential terrorists.

With our modern technology, we can spot a hamster concealed in leaves from deep space! Why can't we find 600,000 illegal aliens?

And another thing: Those who say illegal immigrants are only taking jobs that U.S. Citizens won't do are dead wrong. Many of the illegals are operating their own businesses. Lawn services, roofing, construction, remodeling, etc. The list goes on and on. There is no way they can do that without help from our own Government.

What's wrong with this picture? And what's wrong with a government that turns a blind eye to this danger that is threatening to destroy our great country from within? What's wrong with businesses in America that encourage illegal immigration by hiring them at under the table wages to increase their profit margin? Is the savings to their payroll worth the incredible risks?

Need we remind our lawmakers why illegal immigration is an issue of importance? How's this for a reminder?

I daresay this illegal immigration problem is a far more imminent threat to us than global climate change.

Don't be too quick to assume that these people can't understand more English than you think, Mark. Sometimes it's more convenient for them to pretend ignorance. A lot of them know what you're saying and don't let on...

The majority of them have a GREAT work ethic, and that's admirable, but it's not the point. Unfettered immigration IS a huge problem in this country and it IS one that can be dealt with effectively, if only our leaders had the WILL.

Abouna said...

To Mark & Trader Rick; The problem is NOT that our leaders DON"T have the WILL to stop illegal immigration. The problem is that they either DO NOT want to stop illegal immigration because they are "OPEN BORDER" advocates pushing for a "ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT" which does away with National Sovereignty (check out the push for a North American Union), or our elected officials from both political parties are afraid to go against George Soros who has them in his pocket.

From what I have seen over the years, is that it makes absolutely
no difference to the politicians what the majority of Americans want or demand, the politicians are going to what they WANT. This is NO LONGER our government (A government By the People, For the People and Of the People) we lost it to all of the SECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, BANKS, BIG BUSINESS and DEEP POCKETED INDIVIDUALS. I don't like to say it, but I believe that the only way we are going to get it back is at the end of a gun, because there is no way it is going to happen through either the courts or the ballot box.

If we do nothing we WILL lose our country and our RIGHTS and FREEDOMS, NOT from the outside, but because our own elected officials and many of our own citizens are GIVING IT AWAY, lock, stock and barrel.

Wow. I could write a 20 page comment about illegal immigration. Suffice it to say that it is changing our nation big time. And not for the better. Congress will never do anything to curtail it - get used to that fact. Too many have their agendas for illegal immigration.

Meanwhile American citizens suffer from the overcrowded schools, population explosion, demands on social services, replacement of workers, lower wages, higher taxes, sudden culture shift, greater risk to diseases brought in, victimization by criminals & drunk drivers, & on & on. God help us. The director of the movie "A Christmas Story" was killed last month by a freakin drunk illegal. One of the thousands so killed.

My last post at BorderWatch (http://brokenborders.blogspot.com/)shows a few of the victims of illegal aliens - a few of the thousands each year who are killed, raped, assault, molested by illegal aliens. These folks would not be dead or victims if the illegals who committed the crimes were not here. Thank you Congress, Bush & all the sanctuary cities - they are responsible for dead Americans at the hands of illegals.

Hey! I agree with abouna! Where he said:

we lost it [our gov't] to all of the SECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, BANKS, BIG BUSINESS and DEEP POCKETED INDIVIDUALS.

Right on! Someone speaking sense.

Unfortunately, the agreement was short-lived. He went on to say:

I don't like to say it, but I believe that the only way we are going to get it back is at the end of a gun...

Ah, well, we half agree...

Hmmmmm they do the jobs Americans won't do 'eh?

"The Chamber of Commerce in Santa Ana is touting the economic benefits to be gained by those who need to learn English, as it launches a four-year, $4.5 million program. The businesses also seem to recognize the improvements they will reap.

Primarily, they will have a larger pool of potential employees from which to choose. Currently, they have available jobs, but they want workers to speak English."

In other words they've got job openings, but because these people don't speak English, they are not getting the jobs.

AS the wife of a LEGAL immigrant, you can only guess how I feel about ILLEGAL immigrants.

What do you who claim to believe the Bible should be taken literally do with this verse? Especially you, Mark.

"When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."

- Leviticus 19:33-34

And, did you know those foreigners have a different word for everything.

It's like when I moved from Pennsylvania to the South. I think the whole bunch of them down here must be illegal aliens. They can't even speak American.

Your problem, ER, is that you think that those who take the Bible literally, take it literally literally. Of course, within the Bible, there are verses - such as this one - that we are to take literally but not literally literally.

Some verses are to be taken more literally than others and some verses we need to ignore all together - but we must take it literally as we ignore it.

Or something like that...

you are a ignorante, not even you have culture, that culture you create to defend?

My god! What do you mean the hispanic population is out of controll?!!!!

That's like saying the Jewish population is out of control.

People, get a grip.

And I dare anyone one of you to produce your immigrant grandparents papers.

I don't want to hear your stories - I want you to produce their papers. Scan 'em, and provide a link.

Who gets to decide which bible verses to take literally?

Mark said...

"Who gets to decide which bible verses to take literally?"

Mudkitty, this time you make a very good point. It is a question I've been asking ER for a long time. If the Bible cannot be taken literally, just who decides which parts are true and which parts aren't? ER has never answered that question, nor can he, because if he did, he would have to admit that he has appointed himself as the arbiter of Biblical truth, and that would mean that he thinks he himself is God, or at least equal to Him.

Mark said...

OK ER, here's your answer:

"When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God." ~ Leviticus 19:33-34

First, You have tunnel vision when it comes to this issue. There is a huge difference between legal and illegal aliens. A legal alien is one who is an invited guest in this country, one who has gone through the proper legal channnels to procure residency in this country.

An illegal alien is one who illegally (duh) enters this country. He has been invited, after a fashion, to take up residence in this country, but has decided to disrespect our laws and sovreignty. Thus, this is not the alien God speaks of in this passage. God made it very clear that the law, especially in the old testament, is to be respected, and obeyed. The illegal alien does not fall under the stipulations of the passage. Being illegal, he surrenders his right to be treated as an equal.

That said, even illegal aliens in this country in this century are not being "oppressed" by any stretch of the imagination. If anyone is being oppressed in this country is we, the citizens of the United States, both born and naturalized, who are being oppressed by illegal aliens. Instead of urging them to learn English, we are being forced to learn Spanish in order to communicate with them. We are being forced to pay for their free health care, free education, free housing, free food, etc. Exactly who is oppressing who here?

Next, re read my post. I said "...[I]t's true that most of them are law abiding, hard working, friendly people, who came into this country to obtain a higher quality of life for themselves and their families. And the way their families pull together to ensure that better life is inspiring. It is rare to come across a household of Latinos in the DC area, that doesn't consist of father, mother, children, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents and friends all living and working together under the same roof. The cooperation that is required to sustain that kind of lifestyle is admirable, to say the least."

I harbour no animosity toward aliens. None. I love the Hispanic people. I don't even dislike illegal aliens. All I have met since I've been working with them are likable people.

But this is a security issue, not a discrimination issue.

I also said, "But let us not forget something: If friendly law abiding hard working Hispanics can enter this country illegally, so can law breaking, hate filled, potentially deadly terrorists."

Of course I hardly expect you to be convinced by this argument. Logic has no meaning to rabid Liberals.

Mark - if you want to follow the laws of Leviticus, than you have to give up shell fish, mixed fabrics, sex with your wife for two weeks, you have to commit animal sacrifice...etc.

That's not answering the question. If you take the bible literally, than you have to eat kosher, etc.

After all, Jesus himself said he came to FULFILL the Law, not replace it.

So who are you to pick and choose which verse in Leviticus to follow. You have to follow them all. That means if your child ever swears at you, you must kill your child.

Otherwise you're nuthin but a cafeteria christian, a pick and chooser to suit yourself.

So do you, or don't you believe in Leviticus?

Marshal Art said...

Oh jeez, I can't believe I'm doing this again!

Pay attention people! Leviticus was God's Law FOR the tribes of Israel. Jesus came to save the Jews, but after His rising from the dead provided for all of us His Salvation. His fulfilling of the Law was for the benefit of the Jews, not the gentiles. We are NOT obliged to follow the ritual and dietary laws of Leviticus. We are NOT obliged to conform to it's methods of absolution and atonement. If you're going to reference the Bible (Mudkitty), have either some knowledge or sincere desire to understand.

Dan has a similar problem if he thinks the verse used by ER is a problem of being literal. We in this country generally treat aliens as our own people if they are legal, just as Mark said. So there's no problem with that verse for Christians, because we're also taught to render unto Ceasar and to respect the authority of our governments. Illegals obviously haven't done that, so justice demands their deportation.

And just a little more for the muddyone.

We are not to kill our kids, but our kids are to respect their parents. Killing them was the price for their sin, for the wages of sin is death and at that time, way before the Messiah, that's what God required. When He came to us in the flesh and sacrificed himself, it was because all the sacrifices to that point were imperfect atonements. Jesus, being perfect, was the perfect sacrifice. We can't do better than that. All we can do is believe in Him and accept Him as our Savior. Now, when the kids get cocky, they need only believe on Him for their atonement since He died for their sin of being cocky. I hope that both clears up the issue for you regarding Leviticus and prohibits any further lame attempts at using the Bible against us. If you need more clarification, I'm only too happy to help.

Excuse me Marshall, but I'll take a literal reading of Liviticus over your activist interpretation any day.

Marshal Art said...

Mudkitty,

Well, if you're an Orthodox Jew, that would be appropriate for you. If you're a Christian, not so. I thought you said you had some background in Christianity. Apparently, you didn't pay much attention to come to the conclusions you have. But then, you're real purpose is nothing more than to attempt to trap and disparage those of faith and conservative points of view. You'll need far better than your rudimentary understanding for that ploy. It's cute the way you try, though.

Marshal Art said...

BTW, Muddy,

I'm no more activist for my beliefs than you are for yours. Probably less so. I simply wish to stand up for truth, justice and the American (read: USA) way. The last 40 to 50 years has brought about a lot of nonsense thanks to the corrupted Democratic party and lefty-wing moonbats. I don't see how our beloved nation can endure much more of it. So I'm just another voice voting "ENOUGH!"

Anonymous said...

It's a sad state of affairs to see yourself that way...

The vast majority of Americans (USA) disagree with you, so America is your enemy, egh?

Marshal Art said...

Sad that I care so much for my country, meaning, it's people? What are you talking about?

"The vast majority of Americans (USA) disagree with you, so America is your enemy, egh?"

Vast majority? I won't even ask you to prove that one. You couldn't on your best day. But the trouble is that America is it's own enemy these days, thanks to the aforementioned lefties. Shame on you.

Anonymous said...

Care for your country? Ha! You claim to love America, but you hate most Americans.

Marshal Art said...

"You claim to love America, but you hate most Americans."

So you're just gonna lie now? Just throw around more false accusations because you don't like my opinion? When you find the post where I claimed to hate anyone, let me know with a link. Of course you won't, because you'd prefer to just make outrageous statements. I hate that.

Anonymous said...

You hate liberals, Marshall. Don't lie.

Marshal Art said...

I have no reason to lie. I don't hate anybody. I do hate what libs say and do as it concerns public policy and our culture. Their positions and beliefs are mostly crap. Where they aren't crap, their methods of attaining them are crap. Why wouldn't I hate them? But the libs themselves? No. I don't hate them. Believe what you will. You're gonna anyway.
