The Most Important Unimportant News Of The Day

"The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved." ~ Confucius

I mentioned in an earlier post that I rarely listen to talk radio anymore since the only time I listen to radio of any stripe is when I'm driving, and my car is still not working, so I have been driving an '86 Toyota Pick up that has no radio.

But today, I was driving another car that has a radio and I heard some news that took me by surprise.

Why did it take me by surprise?

Because I hadn't heard it reported in the mainstream news media, and it is of such import, it would seem to me to be a major news development. I don't understand how the major news outlets could have missed the importance. The story didn't even merit as much as a passing mention on AOL news, which is the main source from whence I get the majority of my news. AOL news is the first thing I see every time I sign on to the Internet.

Unfortunately, AOL gets the majority of it's news from the AP and Reuters and UPI, all Liberally biased news outlets.

That may explains the absence of this particular story. Except I would normally assume that even Liberals would be concerned about this story:

It seems that six men were arrested and charged in New Jersey for plotting to launch an attack on soldiers stationed at Fort Dix. From what I understand they were planning to kill hundreds of soldiers.

All six men are Muslim. Perhaps that's just a coincidence? Here's another shocker:

Three of the six were illegal aliens.

Now. Here's what I don't understand. Why doesn't the media consider this story to be more important than...say... President Bush accidentally saying the Queen of England hadn't "visited America since 17...uh...1976"?

Oh yeah. That's a major news story. That ranks right up there with a one legged former model falling while dancing.

Upon further investigation, it seems I am wrong about major news outlets not reporting this story. I have to grudgingly admit that the New York Slimes reported this story, along with several other news outlets. It just didn't make it into AOL, for some reason. But as I mentioned, AOL is my major daily source of news, and I can't find the story there.

But I digress. Getting back to the story, an employee of the local Circuit City notified authorities after the suspects asked him to edit and transfer a video tape to DVD that depicted armed men taking target practice with live ammunition while shouting such innocuous phrases such as "Allah Akbar!" Needless to say, the employee got suspicious.

And probably a little bit spooked.

OK, that's the main points of the story. Now, here is what I heard listening to Conservative talk radio:

There is a terrorism expert in the Balkans claiming that a new "white Al-Qaeda" is operating here that has been trained and planted here from the Balkans and from Kosovo. They do not look like Arabs, but they're being trained to hate and plan and execute terrorist attacks. The Fort Dix Six were apprehended before they could get moving on it, but the Salt Lake City mall shooter who killed four was part of the group.

The Clinton White House ordered the quick evacuation of 20,000 Kosovar refugees that the United States pledged to take, shortcutting normal procedures and background checks. In the refugee village at Fort Dix, N.J., as many as 3,000 of the 20,000 ethnic Albanians that the United States took in are being housed.

A military website, Quartermaster.Army.mil, reports, "A 1996 book by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton titled 'It Takes A Village' became part of a theme for designing the refugee-processing center. The First Lady’s book centered on rekindling a society that totally sustains and supports its families and individuals, especially its children. It was a 530th soldier who had read the First Lady’s book and recommended naming the processing center’s physical location the 'Village' rather than a 'camp' or a 'compound.'"

So, Hillary Clinton has to take some of the blame for these illegals being in this country in the first place? If they hadn't been caught, and their murderous plan come to fruition, would Hillary stand up and take responsibility like a man?

I digress again. Do you suppose this new information that would seem to point to some inadequacies in our current immigration and security procedures will motivate our nation's lawmakers to seal the gaps and renovate the system?

Don't hold your breath.

The Democrats are even now plotting to further undermine the Department of Homeland Security. In light of the latest news regarding yet more terrorists plots, one would think they would support tightening up our national security.

Well, as Fats Waller once said, "One never knows, do one?"

They are doing one thing to *cough *cough strengthen our national security. Senator Lautenberg (S 1237) has a bill he has authored to give the attorney general the right to reject a purchase of a firearm by terrorists or suspected terrorists.

Never mind it would make more sense to seal the borders, since three of the six were illegal aliens or to be more suspicious of what is being smuggled in from port terminals that are owned by countries that are barely friendly to the US.

This story was all over every "liberally-biased" news media I read and hear - including NPR, CNN, AP and my own local Lefty Rag.

Yes, Dan, After I wrote about half this post, I decided to google the story and found it on several news sites. But AOL didn't cover it at all, and I didn't find it on any of the blogs which I read every day, either. I thought that was curious.

As I was typing this out, my son switched the channel to "The Daily Show", and they werte putting their own Liberal spin on the story. They weren't able to make a very strong point, so they didn't spend too much time spinning it.

Do much for the "We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here" theory.

So much for the idea that this is a military problem, rather than an intel and law enforcement problem.

So much for the republican theories.

I think reports said that 2 of the suspects entered through the Mexican border. But that can't be. According to Bush, only hard-working family values folks come into this country to work jobs that Americans won't do. So the news reports are wrong, thank God. I was starting to think that our borders were wide-open to terrorists, but Bush put me straight. I even think there are signs along the border that sayings only hard-working family-values folks are allowed to cross the border illegally. Glad Congress & Bush are on top of this.

Why in heaven's name would you expect either the Dems or the Republicans to secure our borders when they are fixing to to throw the whole dang country wide open with a Super Highway running right up the middle of the country from Mexico to Canada, all the while selling off our national sovereignty to a North American Union,in effect, making Canada, the United States and Mexico all one?

Mudkitty, let me get this straight...

You believe that a domestic Terror Plot uncovered before it could be implimented disproves the theory that Terrorists would attack us here if they could?

Do you believe that this is the only time this has happened in the past five years?

Do you believe that we should have waited for them to kill our soldiers at Ft. Dix, and then arrested them and prosecuted the Ft. Dix Six through the American Legal System?

Is THAT your contention?

Good thing we're using intel and people are being proactive so as in this case we don't have to fight them here, and we keep the fight over there. The young man who turned them in deserves a medal.

Obviously they see our military as a threat so they focused in one them.

This goes to prove without a doubt that what the current administration is doing is working. They have gotten the message out, and people, such as the young person who turned them in have listened.

Many, many more instances such as this have occurred, we just don't hear about it.

Apparently though it is obvious that the leftard owned MSM thinks Anna Nicole is a bigger story that the terrorist from within.

The MSM reported this story but downplayed the importance of the threat. The reason? They don't want Americans to feel unsafe. If Americans feel unsafe, they will vote for the people most capable of defending them. That isn't girly-boy Democrats. The French get it. They just elected a president who sounds tougher on Muslims than Bush does. The Germans get it. They elected a pro-American chancellor in a landslide. The Brits get it. It looks like the guy who will succeed Blair will be pro-American also.

The only people who don't seem to get it is Democrats.

Interesting. That is word for word what John Stewart said about the story on "The Daily Show".

Do these people know that the Daily show isn't actually "NEWS", it's on comedy central for a reason.

Good morning, Mark.

Well, at least Fox News covered it, but the internet had it a day earlier than they did! Some other stations broadcasted it too, but they of course played it down. It seems to of these idiots came through the Mexican border years ago as children. I think we'll being hearing a lot more of this type of thing happening and a lot more frequently. Can we catch them all? It remains to be seen.

Mark, Mark, Mark, AOL, no radio, geez, you can set Townhall as your homepage and stream most to your blog. Michelle Malkin, Townhall, Bill Roggio. I admit to being in the top 5% of news junkies but come on, you're a good blogging conservative, go modern, put your ghetto blaster in the truck or buy a cheap transistor at the five and dime, you are missing a lot my friend and it is showing here.

What kind of idiot looks to AOL as a news source in the first place? Suggest you leave the radio and TV off, and read two or three newspapers, good ones, a day. And think for yourself.

Mark said...

A busy idiot. Let's see. If I don't have time to watch TV or listen to radio, how would I have time to read a newspaper, and anyway, considering 36 newspapers are on judicial record as admitting they lie, what's a "good" newspaper?

"So much for the idea that this is a military problem, rather than an intel and law enforcement problem." TwistedKitten

So...you support the Patriot Act, then.

Leave it to a leftist to support stazi-style law-enforcement.

Al-Ozarka said...

"And think for yourself." Anon

Yuk-yuk!

Yeah...as you're reading your "good" newspaper.

"This story was all over every "liberally-biased" news media I read and hear - including NPR, CNN, AP and my own local Lefty Rag." - Dan Trabue

And was downplayed as hardly significant by the reporters thereon.

Al-Ozarka said...

Sorry...."reporters" thereon.

You've got to be kidding.

First off, to say that you're sending our valiant men and women to Iraq in order to fight them there so we don't have to fight them here, is an admission that you see our soldiers as bait.

Secondly, the roach motel theory is dangerous, in that we need to spread our resources, not concentrate them in one place. As the disaster in Kansas showed us yet again, and as the foiling of the AQ wannabees proved.

This whole roach motel theory has proven a disaster. It's militarily naive.
