How To Get Rich(er)

"Nevermind what I told you to do! Do what I tell you!" ~ W. C. Fields

Oh, this is irony. Slip-and-fall lawyer, John Edwards is demonstrating first hand how to beat poverty. From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Edwards charges $55,000 to speak to UC Davis students about poverty

Here's a teaser:

"Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, who as a Democratic presidential candidate recently proposed an educational policy that urged "every financial barrier" be removed for American kids who want to go to college, has been going to college himself -- as a high paid speaker, his financial records show."

The report goes on to say Edwards made 9 speeches overall at American Universities at a total price of more than $285,000.

Let us remember that the University of California at Davis is a tax payer funded institution, so it is Californian tax dollars that are paying for Edwards to spout off in favor of using U.S. tax money to fund college educations. This equates to tax dollars that pay for a speaker who advocates raising taxes to pay for speakers who charge $55,000 a speech.

See? Irony!

And while I'm on the subject of John Edwards; I sometimes wonder about how his wife's doctors feel about treating her, knowing that if he can find anything even remotely negligent about her treatment, they will likely get sued. Treating the wife of a highly successful ambulance chasing lawyer has to be a frightening thought. I bet only the most confident doctors would even attempt the task.

All I can say is they better cure her. That is, if they want to continue practicing medicine.

Was this after he announced his candidiacy ?

If it was it is a violation of campign finance laws and a felony!

On the other hand he has to pay for $400 hair cuts and his 25,000 square foot house.

Gosh, Mark, I think you are a bit harsh with Pretty Boy. All the politicos get paid for their speeches, this is nothing new...But I get your point. And as a cancer survivor courtesy of my government's use of Agent Orange, I wish Mrs. Edwards all the luck in the world with her treatments...

Edwards is the typical liberal hypocrite. Multi-millionaire pontificating about the "2 Americas". Just like Capt Ted Kennedy of the S.S. Oldsmobile who pushed for school busing for the masses but sent his own kids to private schools. Or Gore with his 20 times consumpstion of electricity than the masses but ponitificates on how we should all do our bit to become "greener". Or Barbara Streisland the environmentalist who wanted a stand of trees cut down cuz they block her view of the ocean. Or Capt Ted again who didn't want energy windmills of the coast near him cuz they spoiled his ocean view from his mansion. Or the environmentalist leader who preaches "green" but takes fuel guzzling private jets to lectures. Or Carl Rowan who strongly advocated gun control but shot an intruder with a handgun. And on & on.

It's the old do as I say, not as I do game. These self-righteous clowns don't give a hoot about the poor or the trees or the spotted owl. But it sounds nice. It's just a game to them. They are only dedicated to one cause - their own. And that cuts across both political parties. But the tendancy for hypocrisy seems more prevalant with the liberal crowd. They are good at telling us what we should be doing, while not doing it themseves.

We refer to it as the Republic of Davis, loony tune land, here in the central valley. Edwards is as shady and corrupt as Sacramento, typical Ca. liberal, he will probably win the DNC primary out here, his 'constituents' can't or don't vote in the generals. Obama also plays well out here, very well in fact.Mitt should get a big jump in the GOP polls after recent developements, McCain/Kennedy being one of them and Rudy doesn't really want the POTUS.

See it's things like this that make me hate my homestate. I didn't authorize them to spend my money on Edwards blathering.

I cant help it, every time I see John Edwards the first thing that comes to my mind is "The Brek Girl"

Edwards is leading the Democrats in Iowa, with Hillary now in third.

The Silky Pony will be easy pick'ns for us. While Hillary is absolutely ruthless, I probably shouldn't underestimate the left's ability to seize defeat from the jaws of victory. That *is* their entire philosophy, after all.

Douglas Gibbs son is being treated for cancer on the tax payer's dime. He admits it.

As for Elizabeth Edwards, you ghouls, not even money can save you from a cancer death, or accident deaths, etc.

And since when are you guys against a poor boy who made good? Are you anti-capitalists? Or only when it comes to democrats?

Ever ask how much Tom Delay spent on his rug?

Hi mark,
I couldn't help but post on this yesterday! What a hypocrite. Why doesn't he take the $55,000 and give it to the poor, since he wants to help them so much...

BTW, he did do this before he declared to be a candidate.
Blessings

"Are you anti-capitalists?"

What, are you implying John Edwards runs an ambulance chasing company?

John Edwards is the ultimate hypocrite. He also would be a very scary president. He doesn't believe there is a war on terror and he thinks Israel is the greatest threat to world peace. The breck girl is not up to the task on so many different levels.

Great non-sequitor there, ShitKitty.

Yeah, I'd be frightened too if I had Silky Pony breathing down my neck while trying to treat the shyster's spouse.

"Poor boy who made good." Yeah, that's rich.

I predict an Edwards/Clinton ticket from the lefties. Barack Hussein Obama doesn't stand a chance in the general election. While I am fully a Romneyite I would fully support our GOP nominees. I feeel we have a very fine slate to choose from.

How to get richer, work your ass off or sue somebody with deep pockets seems to be the American way.

Yeah right, Henry - tell us all about the Cato Institute. Those godless heathens.

Wow. I think poor Goat is out of touch with the US citizenry. While he's not my first choice for a candidate, as things stand now, I'm betting Obama will be our next president. He's popular amongst the US at large and he's got a very weak Republican slate of candidates running against him.

Of course, this is just my hunch, but I think ol' Goat is way off here.

Marshal Art said...

No Dan,

Obama's popular with the liberals at large who don't pay attention to anything more than superficial aspects of a candidate. His record as an Illinois state senator is abysmal and will surely be used against him by the right if not more conservative lefties. He's a very poor choice for a leader and in that he's equal to Hillary. If the left wants so badly a woman or minority in office, they should at least find one with brains.

Well that remains to be seen. I have no crystal ball telling me what the US thinks. As is true for you.

I think you're way wrong on this, though, and the only data we have to base it on beyond our hunches is opinion polls, which support my position.

From Rasmussen:

Fred Thompson...has been publicly considering entering the 2008 Presidential Sweepstakes to fill what some see as a void in the Republican Primary field.

The first Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey involving Thompson shows the former Senator from Tennessee essentially tied with the Democratic frontrunner, Senator Hillary Clinton. It’s Thompson 44% Clinton 43%.

However, Thompson trails another leading Democrat, Illinois Senator Barack Obama by twelve percentage points, 49% to 37%. When matched against Thompson, Obama outperforms Clinton among men, women, white voters, and unaffiliated voters. He even attracts more crossover support from the GOP.

OR, here's what Zogby has to say...

Zogby
: Obama Leads All Republicans in General Election Head to Head Contests

Obama would defeat all Republican opponents, including John McCain of Arizona, Rudy Giuliani of New York City, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, and Fred Thompson of Tennessee in prospective presidential contests, the poll shows.

That's right, ShitKitty, kill the messenger; ignore the message.

Hypocrite.

Sorry Henry, a fake think tank is a fake think tank (ie. propaganda manufacturing plant.) It ain't just the messenger - it's the message.

Marshal Art said...

Dan,

I don't waste my time with polls other than the general election. My point was that Obama has said very little of substance until I saw this morning's paper, wherein he is reported to be calling for taxing the wealthy to pay for his health care ideas. So what little he's said is unquestionably socialist, as is most of what he supported as an Illinois state senator. If his supporters understood the ramifications of Obama's methods, they'd flee in droves, unless they are as socialist as is he. He is bad for America (North, South or Central Muddy)

ShitKitty, it's obvious you never even read the link before criticizing the source (hallmark of a moonbat).

Oops, you wouldn't want facts to get in your way.

Hypocritical moonbat lemming.

Henry, sometimes I respond to comments, and not just posts, you big giant silly. When are you going to get it?

Anonymous said...

What? No idiotic retort about the Boston Globe's exposing John Edwards for the liar he is?

I didn't think so.

I got it: When all else fails, throw out an irrelevant non-sequitur.

No, because you're just swiftboating, and it's really silly.
