"Maybe we need a Muslim version of The Cosby Show." ~ Katie Couric
While surfing the net, I came across this news story.
Katie Couric suggests an Islamic version of "The Cosby Show", ostensibly I suppose, to combat what Katie calls, "the seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong -- and so disappointing."
We knuckleheaded Americans need to be educated.
Personally, I find Katie's perky enthusiasm for all things Muslim rather humorous, considering the fact, that, under Sharia law, she would not have anywhere close to the same liberties she currently enjoys under our antiquated first amendment.
But really, it isn't altogether unexpected to hear such moronic inanities issuing from betwixt those ruby red lips.
However, I really didn't want to focus on the hilarity of what "Klueless Katie" has to say. After all, we Conservatives have come to expect such empty-headed Liberal Media types to gush all over anything that's anti-American and pro-Islam.
I would instead point the reader(s) to the comments made about the story. Some are hilarious. Some are disturbing.
Keeping in mind, of course, that there are indeed peaceful Muslims living amongst us.
It's just that, as one commenter said, "The Bingfhndfnghy family living next door to you in the suburbs of America only have a 60% chance of being a muslim/arab terrorist sleeper cell."
I daresay we uneducated Conservative Americans have no similar suspicions about the Baptist family who spend their weekends at Bible study.

Yeah, it's the Catholics who are stockpiling weapons in their church basements! :D
It's getting really old to have to say "I know there are many peaceful muslims out there." Can we just all assume that's a given? After all, it's not the peaceful musims that cause concern. They've already rejected the violent aspects of islam or else they wouldn't be "peaceful".
It's the nasty ones who are the problem, and how to tell the difference between them and the peaceful ones.
But can you imagine such a TV show as Couric suggests? Only a lib like her would suppose that it would't result in giving people the wrong impression, leaving them easier victims for the muslims that cause all the trouble.
This useful idiot talks of "Core American Values". She wouldn't know a value if it bit her on her arse.
"Yeah, it's the Catholics who are stockpiling weapons in their church basements!"
Aren't you?
Is there anything outside the holler that you don't hate? Katie makes a very good suggestion. The Cosby Show helped to mainstream the idea of middle class African Americans. Something similar for Muslims is a great idea.
You know, there are many Muslim countries that are secular and most have taken a modernized approach to Sharia.
By the way, is it true it is illegal to divorce in the Philippines because the country has been taken over by Catholic law?
"Cosby Show helped to mainstream the idea of middle class African Americans."
It did nothing of the kind. Americans watched a show featuring an upper middle class American family. Anyone paying special attention to the color of the participants is a racist.
Art's comment was spot on. We already know there are peaceful Muslims. That's not the point. It would be an exercise in redundancy to waste America's time portraying a Muslim family as such.
However, since 99.8% of all terrorist attacks around the world are perpetrated by Muslims, there is logic in suspecting Muslims might be terrorists.
The anonymous "Jim" is a hate filled racist! Now we know!
The Cosby show did nothing to show the heritage or trials and tribulations of African Americans. It was race-neutral.
Back to your stinkin' holler, "Jim".
Episode 125-1 Denise returns from Africa, with a new husband and stepdaughter in tow, something Cliff and Clair had no idea about until she arrived home. Cliff restores family honor by slitting Denise's throat for marrying an American sailor.
"Anyone paying special attention to the color of the participants is a racist."
Horses**t.
"However, since 99.8% of all terrorist attacks around the world are perpetrated by Muslims, there is logic in suspecting Muslims might be terrorists."
Incredibly stupid! Since 99.8% of all terrorist attacks around the world are perpetrated by males, there is just as much logic in suspecting males might be terrorists.

Are you learning impaired? You've been to my blog (which has a profile) so you apparently clicked on my name. You even asked me questions which I answered.
So how you can continue to claim I'm "anonymous" is beyond reason. So if you're going to continue to be a dick, why don't you just stay on your porch and yell at the kids to get off your lawn?
I think I'm finally getting to "Jim the Racist". I like poking these pimple faced young lib-turds,who live in their parents' basements playing video games and trolling the net.Get out of your pajamas and get a job, "Jim" ! Learn something of the real world, not just what you've read in your funny books or seen on MSNBC...
what Jim is doing is called: arguing from the counterintuitive.
Basically Jim is saying that despite all the evidence that proves you right your still wrong for reasons he can't explain.
Dick obviously did not read my response to the question he asked on my blog. Must be one of those people who never follow through.
ED-afflicted, there are hundreds of Muslims working in the building in which I work (yes, Dick, I do have a job). None of the rest of us suspect any one of them of being a terrorist.
you're purposely mis representing the argument to mask your own stupidly. No one said 99% of muslims are terrorists, but instead 99% of all terrorists are muslims.
So the "fact" that you work with non-terroist muslims is irrelevant.
BTW, what building has 100s of muslims??
Do you work at GITMO?
ED-afflicted said, "what building has 100s of muslims?"
Many outside the holler. :-)
"you're purposely mis representing the argument"
No, Mark said, "there is logic in suspecting Muslims might be terrorists." This statement clearly suggests that any Muslim should be suspected of being a terrorist. I used his same logic to show the fallacy of what Mark said.
Ah, I get it now. There is NO logic in suspecting Muslims might be terrorists. Therefore, there must be no logic in suspecting tigers might be man-eaters. So, you would have no problem walking through tiger country in India totally unarmed. I guess there would also be no logic in suspecting that young black men might be gangstas. So, you would have no compunctions about walking through south central L.A. after dark with $50 bills hanging out of your pockets. Yup. That's logic. Liberal logic.
I lived next door to a Muslim family of four for six years. They were devout, never leaving the house from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday. They had a Muslim instructor visit every week to teach the children Arabic and the Muslim faith. I watched the kids grow up through high school, the older child getting straight As in high school and going on to UC Berkeley. I occasionally talked politics with the father. He was Jordanian by birth. While he supported a Palestinian state, he was not in favor of killing Jews or driving them into the sea.
So when you and O'Reilly and anybody else say Muslims "might be terrorists" or "Muslims attacked us on 9/11", I reject the language and the logic because even though I know many terrorist acts have been perpetrated by people who were Muslims, I would no sooner suspect a Muslim selling me a lottery ticket of being a terrorist than I would suspect a curly-haired young white man of being a possible assassin of a US Congress person.
Get that?
It takes only one.
Get that?
No doubt you also wouldn't have suspected Dr. Nidal Malik Hasan of being a terrorist. After all, he was an officer in the American Army. He was a highly-educated psychiatrist. Why, he was so proud of his country that he wore his uniform when he murdered 13 people and wounded 30 at Ft. Hood.
Ditto for Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad (a.k.a. Carlos Bledsoe), who killed one Army recruiter and wounded another at an Arkansas Army recruiting center. He wasn't even born as a Muslim, but converted in his teens.
I'm guessing the families of all those people don't care much that the majority of Muslims are peaceful. (Do you have any statistics to back that up, by the way?)
Fact: In EVERY country where there is a large-enough group of Muslims living alongside ANY culture, there is violence and bloodshed.
A religion should be judged by its teachings, not by people who don't follow them.
The Bible teaches: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
The Koran teaches: "Then when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush."
Get that?
So, Jim, your entire basis for your belief that Muslims are peaceful Jew lovers is one Muslim family that were friendly to you, personally, right?
What happens on the day of reckoning, Jim? Do you seriously think they would go against their religious and defend the infidel living next door?
Perhaps. But, more than likely they would, if nothing else, at least stand silent and watch with approval while their Muslim brothers saw you and your family's heads off.
AFTER READING THIS, I AM NO LONGER GOING TO BAIT OR DEBATE the anonymous racist Anti-Christian, Jew-hater "JIM".
He is obviously deranged and is in dire need of professional help.
Couric is a willful idiot -- and a dhimmi -- if she believes this tripe.
Just got back from leading two worship services at my Lutheran Church and saw this:
"the anonymous racist Anti-Christian, Jew-hater "JIM"."
Apparently DICK doesn't know the meaning of anonymous.
"He is obviously deranged and is in dire need of professional help."
Project much? OK, I'm getting off your lawn now. Yikes!
LR:
The Defense Department reported 3,409 Muslims on active military duty as of April 2008, but officials said the number could be at least three times higher. link
Do we suspect all 3,400-10,000 Muslims in the US military based on the actions of two?
"Fact: In EVERY country where there is a large-enough group of Muslims living alongside ANY culture, there is violence and bloodshed."
Including Tuscon AZ?
The Bible teaches: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
Except where it tells people to destroy and kill all those who would worship other gods (Deuteronomy) and many other similar passages in the Bible.
"So, Jim, your entire basis for your belief that Muslims are peaceful Jew lovers is one Muslim family that were friendly to you, personally, right?"
Uh, no. Unlike you, I refuse to judge all people in a group by one or a small number, just as I refuse to judge American conservatives by you or Dick. To do either would be bigotry.
"Incredibly stupid! Since 99.8% of all terrorist attacks around the world are perpetrated by males, there is just as much logic in suspecting males might be terrorists."
Actually, Jim, the profile includes "male" in describing the typical terrorist. But not "males" alone, but muslim males, generally aged around 16-30 or so. So there IS logic in suspecting certain males. No profile is complete with only characteristic. But, if we were going to use only one or the other, looking at muslims as possible terrorists is a much smaller and specific group than "males" and thus narrows the search greatly. "Muslim males" even more so. "Young muslim males" more than that.
But considering they also try to recruit women now, and also aren't beneath using their retarded and infants as human bombs, concerns are not without precedent.
We've also all heard of sleeper cells. Of the "hundreds" of muslims in the building in which you work, how could you tell if any were part of a cell? How could you tell that all of them were or not? Sleeper cell agents are supposed to blend with whatever society they're in, so they'd all seem like nice guys.
BTW, just curious, "hundreds" of muslims? Do you card them? Has there been a poll in your building? Are you assuming every Arabic-looking person is muslim and not some other faith? Are you assuming every Arabic-looking person is an Arab? Do all Arab-looking people in your building dress in traditional Arabic clothing are carry their prayer rugs into the building with them?
"Except where it tells people to destroy and kill all those who would worship other gods (Deuteronomy) and many other similar passages in the Bible."
Of course you realize that God was commanding them to do this in towns that were given over to His people, in order that His people and the lands they were given were kept pure. It didn't mean for them to go out and seek pagans and wipe them out, or to kill anyone who didn't convert. And of course you realize that there are no Jewish sects that preach the killing of pagans to their congregations.
This isn't the case in islam, where the decree is still in force as a general rule, regardless of who takes it seriously.
You're going out of your way to mitigate the facts that from within islam comes the lion's share of terrorists and that within islam is a very large percentage that supports what terrorists do to one degree or another. But the facts stand regardless of your efforts and the efforts of others who pretend no real threat from within islam exists.
Sigh. Jim, There are about 4,000 tigers in India. Are you going to suspect every one as being a man-eater?
Like I said, it takes only one.
Last time I checked, Tucson was not a country. And it's spelled "Tucson."
Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the Hebrew Bible, and the fifth of five books of the Jewish Torah/Pentateuch and the fifth book of the Old Testament. Since it was written, God sent his only begotten Son to us to form a new covenant with man that changed the rules of much that was done in the Hebrew scriptures. I would think that someone who leads worship services at his church would know that. Show me in the New Testament where Jesus teaches his followers "to destroy and kill all those who would worship other gods." I can certainly quote many passages in the Koran and Hadiths where Muhammad teaches exactly that.
A religion should be judged by its teachings, not by those who disobey them. To do otherwise would be bigotry.
Islam teaches hatred and war, so Muslims who are peace-loving are not following the teachings of Muhammad.
Christianity teaches love and peace, so Christians who hate are not following the teachings of Jesus.
Get that?
I don't think anything more needs to be said than Jim's earlier statement "I reject...the logic".
Liberals feel, conservatives think. I hope Jim has learned that if he's going to argue with me, he'd better utilize facts, not opinions.
Get that?
"I hope Jim has learned that if he's going to argue with me, he'd better utilize facts, not opinions."
Will you be providing any facts soon? Because it occurs to me that I've read a lot of words from you on this blog but I can't recall any facts, LR.
