Edward M. Kennedy

"God better have mercy on you. You won't get any from me." ~ Sheriff (From "The Oxbow Incident".)

Out of respect for the recently departed, I won't eulogize Senator Ted Kennedy. But, I will say one positive thing for him:

He is the main reason I became a Conservative.

After he murdered Mary Jo Kopoechne and got away with it, I decided I couldn't, in good conscience, be a Liberal.

And then, throughout his career in the Senate, he continually affirmed that I made the right decision.

That's the nicest thing I can say for now.

UPDATE: For another take on Kennedy, in words I wish I had the guts to say, click this link.

At least the Kennedy political dynasty is finally dead. Edward Kennedy was the poster-child for term limits.

May God have mercy on his soul. As for myself, I have pity for the man for the judgment he now faces.

The family's fortune was made during Prohibition when old Joe Kennedy was a rum runner. The kids were "new money".

As a utopian socialist, Ted never really seemed to have his feet planted on the ground. Because reality was so askew from what he "wanted" (an unrealistic pipe dream based on fantasy), he turned to alcohol.

It would have been better if he'd stayed home on Martha's Vineyard and well away from Washington DC. But he didn't. And we were all worse off for that decision with his family's ill-gotten fortune to buoy him up.

Most of the family felt Ted was the black sheep, not as brave as Joe Jr. (died in WW2), not as charismatic as John F, not as articulate as Robert. He was the one who lived while the rest of them died. (he put the bottle to his head and pulled the trigger)

That's as nice as I can be.

He did more to send this country on a path to destruction than any other politician in our history -- until Obama.

I agree that Kopechne's death should never be forgotten.
I agree that Kennedy almost never did any legislation I agreed with.....
I have to admit he showed great physical courage during his illness......that's that.

"...he showed great physical courage during his illness"

Many, many, MANY people show this same courage. What's hypocritical about his "courage" is he would have denied you and me the same courage... denied us the right to quality healthcare. The kind HE received while being courageous.

EL, you said: "At least the Kennedy political dynasty is finally dead."

Not so fast my friend, there is still Patrick, who seems to be well on his way to emulating Teddy in the drinking department.

And, by the way, Chris Matthews (Obama sends a thrill down my leg) stated that Obama is the last Kennedy Brother.

Now I think I am in dire need of an overdose of Pepto after listening to all of the libtards spewing their pap about how great Teddy was.

He was the Anti-hero of Chappaquiddick. The antithesis of everything Americn and the fourth most dangerous person on the planet: Obama; Biden; Pelosi; Kennedy.

Now I have to come up with a new "fourth."

The dynasty is not completely dead ... yet,

Last year some kid got distracted and ran a stop sign. He killed someone. He's going to prison for about twenty years.

Kennedy, he got drunk, drove, killed a woman, left her, and NOTHING FREAKING HAPPENED TO HIM!!

(Wikipedia) According to his own testimony, Kennedy swam across the 500-foot channel, back to Edgartown and returned to his hotel room, where he removed his clothes and collapsed on his bed. Hearing noises, he later put on dry clothes and asked someone what the time was: it was something like 2:30 a.m., the senator recalled. He testified that, as the night went on, "I almost tossed and turned and walked around that room ... I had not given up hope all night long that, by some miracle, Mary Jo would have escaped from the car."

And yet he left her there. WTH is MADD?!

Anyone think that maybe it wasn't exactly an "accident". Libs are pretty good at making sure that people who know things about them have "accidents". Think of all the people who had stuff against hillary clinton (purposely left lowercase), who had "accidents" or "killed themselves".

'Tis a freaking mystery...
