Obama's First Presidential Mistake

"Since a politician never believes what he says, he is quite surprised to be taken at his word." ~ Charles De Gaulle

One day in office and Obama has already broken one campaign promise. Remember? He promised Planned Parenthood the first thing he would do as President would be to work towards passage of the Freedom Of Choice Act, a particularly horrific piece of legislation that would make it legal for underage minor girls to obtain abortions without the knowledge or permission of their parents. It would also force Catholic hospitals and other religious hospitals to provide abortions against their religious principles. And many more equally egregious provisions.

Anyway, Obama hasn't whispered a word about FOCA so far. Hence, he has broken one promise already. How many more promises has he broken and how many more broken promises will be forthcoming?

But, I will not focus on his broken campaign promises. Everyone knows candidates make many promises they can't keep while running for office. I only mention it here because it further illuminates the fact that Obama is a mere man, not a God, as his followers appear to believe.

What Obama has actually done is much more egregious, and, potentially dangerous for every American citizen, including Liberals.

He signed an executive order which suspends all trials of "alleged" terrorists currently being held at GITMO in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This suspension is supposed to last a period of 120 days, I believe, during which the process of trying the detainees will be reviewed as to whether they are legal or not.

Regardless of the conclusion of the reviewing panel, Obama has sent a message to every terrorist organization in the world. That message is:

America is weak.

America, under her new President Barack Hussein Obama, will hesitate before retaliating for any future attacks. America will become again, the "Paper Tiger" that Osama bin Laden said we were.

Obama's executive order, which on the surface, appears gracious, fair, and benign, will embolden our enemies, and invite more attacks on America.

What's next?

Suspension of the Patriot act?

Perhaps he should just order an air strike on America. The result would be the same.

Ok Moron, now what are you going to do with Gitmo detainees?
What now Messiah!!!!!
how about putting them in YOUR back yard?
God only knows if just one of them gets lose in American Society and commits even one, single terrorist act in American Society, and brings death and destruction to American shores, your blood is going to be on it Mr. Know it all

Why don't we Just Let Them All Go
I'm tired of arguing with libs. Turn all the terrorists loose, pull home the troops, stop the free flow of oil, shut down all industry, raise tax rates to 90%, open the borders, open the doors of the treasury, ban the consumption of all meat and let cows roam the streets, let libs have anal sex in the street, round up all Christians and Jews and send them to Gitmo, issue a decree ending all marriages and make marriage for heteros illegal, take our children and put them in 24 hour government schools from birth, arrest those who didn't abort their babies, legalize all drugs, take away our guns, make it illegal to arrest a person of color, arrest all white people, open prisons and let everyone go, legalize marijuana but ban tobacco, ban the use of the gasoline engine, take everything I have and give it to someone else, and make Obama king.

There! Will that be enough? Is there anything else you libs want?

You asked if the PATRIOT Act would be suspended? Most likely. It's not patriotic, according to the left. Great blog, Mark. I just found you thru "Our World As We See it".

Thank you, Pamela, and welcome to my place. Come back often.

Mark, I realize that it isn't the first thing he's doing, but I doubt we've seen the last of FOCA. I think he's going to try and do it when people aren't watching so closely or attach it to some other legislation that America wants to get it through. I do get what you're saying though.

I am still trying to absorb what he did with GITMO detainees. I'm just...absorbing...gathering my myriad of thoughts and trying to make sense of what he's done. He said he was using his middle name at his inauguration to send a message to the Muslim world.

I think he just may have sent them another one.

I'm still out on whether this man is conniving, obtuse, a traitor or too idealistic.

DD2, I actually support the legalization of marijuana...I'm a Libertarian. :) I feel you on the rest of it though! I know someone who has already burried a few guns and lots of ammo. I know a few people who are dealing in cash as much as possible. Not that the American dollar is going to be worth anything for much longer.

Absolutely, Krystal. Obama will try to pass the FOCA. I never said he wouldn't. He did, however, promise it would be the first thing he did.

Yes, with his first executive order he indeed sent a message to the terrorists. No doubt about it.

DD, I don't care if they close GITMO, really. I suggest tney send the detainees to those secret CIA prisons all over the world that the Libs have so many objections to.

Hi Mark,
I hope he breaks all of his promises and accomplishes nothing...

Mark said...

He's already accompished something, Timothy. He has sent a message of hope to the terrorists.

Gayle said...

He certainly has sent a message of hope to the terrorist, Mark. I couldn't agree with you more! I also feel the same way DD2 does, which is obviously totally disgusted! :(

I think he promised quite a few "first things" along the way. I doubt he can remember them all...

Mark, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Obama signed the Freedom of Choice Act into law today (sometime this morning).

Mark said...

I can't correct you, Father, cause I don't know. But in any case, He still broke his promise to PP. He said it was the first thing he'd do. Obviously, he did several other thnigs first.

AS far as I know, this mis-named piece of filth has never come before congress for a vote...

Mark said...

Rick, I am in the process of addressing this issue right now. Come back in a couple of hours.

If you're trying to keep track of Chairman 0 broken promises, you'll find this to be a handy bookmark.

Ok, how exacty is campaign promise #125 Direct military leaders to end war in Iraq much in the way of "keeping his promise"? Basically, he's riding on the coattails of the former president's troop surge success; drawdowns were already underway during the previous Administration's stewardship, with numbers already almost back to pre-surge levels. And with the SOFA, really, what more is there, other than rhetoric and appearances and stealing of thunder?
