Drive By Commentary

"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:10

The 14 fleebagger Democrat Senators in Illinois (who are supposed to be doing their jobs in Wisconsin) should be recalled, and the greedy, selfish, overpaid, over-compensated whining Teachers and public workers who are refusing to do the jobs they are being overpaid to do, should be fired.

The so-called doctors who are writing false sick notes for those union employees should be brought up before the medical ethics board, and subsequently lose their licenses to practice medicine.

No if's, and's, or but's.

Remember how President Ronald Reagan handled the illegal Air Traffic controller's strike? The same solution applies.

Public sector unions are a blight on society, and leeches of the government trough. Good cartoon here: http://biggovernment.com/tobytoons/2011/02/24/then-and-now-public-unions/ which explains what the Demokrat darling FDR thought of public sector unions.

Yep, Reagan did a great job with PATCO, a group of which I was forced to join if I wanted to be certified from training. Too bad for them, I honored my oath and trained to certification and retired after 30 years.

But good ole Clinton felt sorry for those fired and gave many of them their jobs back after well over a decade of being out, and they were given all their seniority and benefits for retirement, which caused lots of hard-feelings for those who stayed behind.

I hate unions in general, but especially public sector unions - they are supposed to be public servants.

Sorry you are so bitter.

Not bitter, Jim. I have dealt too many years with unions and I know the harm they cause, and how they really only exist nowadays to enrich themselves and defend the lazy and incompetent workers. Knowing the truth doesn't make me bitter. I hate sin also, but I'm not bitter about it.

Obama doesn't have a leg to stand on when standing up for the unions. It was the democrats under Carter who took away bargaining rights from federal employees. It was liberal demigod FDR, who warned against federal employee unions. All governor is doing is putting the state employees on the same level as federal employees. I thought liberals were all about fairness. What's unfair about that?

Glenn, the anonymous "jim" is now so bereft of argument that he(or her) just resorts to calling you and me "bitter". I wonder if HE is the bitter one?. I mean an overweight middle aged balding hippy living in his mom's dank basement, still suffering from teenage acne and enduring the daily constant bombardment from rightwingers totally devastating his "arguments"--wouldn't that turn you bitter about how your life turned out???

BTW, my stepson is a newly minted ATC at Atlanta Center. WE toured the facility and it is DARK!! They need to get some stimulous money to buy lightbulbs!!

I started at Chicago Center in January 1979 after four months at the FAA Academy in OKC. The 2nd week of the strike in Aug '81 three of us were sent to DuPage Airport, West Chicago (at the time 3rd busiest airport in IL) to help out. In Dec. they wanted us to come back to the Center, but I really enjoyed the tower so I asked to stay there. In Feb '86 they made me supervisor. The new union, NATCA, wasn't a problem then. But after 5 years they decided to declare war on management, and the Chicago area groups were very militant. I got tired of dealing with the crap and by the second week of Dec 1995 I was working at Cedar Rapids, IA, from where I was forced to retire when I turned 56 in April 2008. Six weeks later I returned part-time as a contract instructor with Raytheon until they laid me off in Feb 2010. I have plenty of stories about that union!

Now, Atlanta is a very busy facility! They need those lights dim to see the scopes!

One of the best and most satisfying aspects of my flying days was instrument flying and working with ATC. Being instrument rated, I understood what their job was about and really respected their ability to guide me and everyone else though weather and traffic safely to our destinations. I only logged about 1,000 hours, and I'm no longer active, but I flew a few pretty hairy segments IFR and really appreciated the professionals who enabled me to do so.

BTW, I owned my own airplane, a PA28-181...very un hippy-like.

"the daily constant bombardment from rightwingers totally devastating his 'arguments'".

I have YET to see ANY argument from you, Dick. Just your continuous flogging of the "anonymous 'jim" theme, which seems to be all you've got.

I also spent 3 1/2 years with the Postal Service and did not join their union either. It was another union who protected the incompetent and lazy.

I also have a commercial license, multi-engine rating, instrument rating, helicopter rating. Flew from 1971 to 1995 and hung up my wings due to the expense.

I forgot to say, if you like airplanes, check out www.airport-data.com. Lots of photographers, including me.

Mark, is there any talk at all about these docs being in trouble?
Seems really against all rules, all morality, that they'd do something like this.
Breitbart was offered a note, did you hear?
