Don't Cry, Mommy. I'm Only Bleeding

"America is the greatest, freest and most decent society in existence. It is an oasis of goodness in a desert of cynicism and barbarism. This country, once an experiment unique in the world, is now the last best hope for the world." ~ Dinesh D'Souza

September 11, 2009

I was going to post a very moving and touching tribute to the memories of those Americans whose lives were taken prematurely on September eleventh, two thousand and one, at the Pentagon in Washington, the World Trade Center in New York City, and that nondescript field in Pennsylvania.

I was going to write a blog entry about the significance of the terrorist attacks on America on that fateful day.

I was going to remind both of my readers how that attack 8 years ago today had changed America. How it intensified our resolve to fight tyranny and hatred all over the world. How we responded to the attacks with renewed patriotism, and how we Americans, as one people, with one voice, rose up in unity to protect our rights as free people to defend our country and her people against fanatical Islamic terrorists.

I was going to write an inspirational post reminding my two readers that America is still the greatest country in the world. Self-governing and free.

Yes, I was going to create a blog post about all those things, and it would have been both moving and encouraging.

But, like most Americans (or so it appears), I have forgotten that anything happened on that day.

OK. One quick point. This post was inspired by the total lack of coverage of this somber anniversary in the online media, specifically, AOL. I didn't visit other internet news pages. So, I may be wrong about the lack of coverage. But I was inspired to write this post nonetheless.

I will never forget.

Ever.

But most Americans are going about their day today without much thought of what happened 8 years ago -- and is still happening in different ways, for that matter.

The Yahoo homepage does have a picture, but not of the disaster, not the victims' families mourning...just THE ONE's profile in front of a white lily floral tribute...I THINK the tribute's to the 9/11 situation, you can't tell... :-)

FORGET? NEVER NEVER NEVER. America's not been the same since and I know you'll agree it feels like the lifeblood's sapped the breath out of us, or it has me. NEVER been the same.

I thought this was the day we honored ACORN and other elements of the ObamaNation. You mean the date has other significance?

Didn't you hear? It's a day of service to President BO!

As Kathleen Sebelius put it: "It's the first-ever federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Service projects marking the eight-year anniversary of September 11, 2001, will take place in all 50 states, ranging from food drives and home repairs to neighborhood cleanups and disaster preparation activities."

Sort of like the ways we remember Pearl Harbor and The Battle of Okinawa and the Invasion of Normandy.

WHO IS THIS GUY?????

I was pretty disgusted by the way yesterday pretty much only had coverage of FOX and the conservative radio. Rush talk about how the all so mighty one was trying to steal the day by making it a day to do community service instead of a day to remember those who were murdered.

"instead of a day to remember"

I guess that's why he proclaimed it Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
