Introducing A New Blog And Another Obama Gaffe

"You have all the characteristics of a popular politician: a horrible voice, bad breeding, and a vulgar manner." ~ Aristophanes

Yesterday, I received the following announcement in my e-mail:

Being from Illinois, I understand politics- It's a pay for play world. As such, I, President Barry O, has a deal for you. Not as good as an AIG exec, but pretty good none the less.

In an effort to reach out to my fellow Americans, I have launched my very own secret blog. Problem is, it's too secret. So Rahm had a great idea. I should offer a primo adviser gig to whoever sends us the must hits. I don't understand what that means, but Ram runs the show around here- so the offer stands. The link is http://presidentbarryo.blogspot.com/

President Berry O

What this means is whoever sends us the most traffic gets a charechter named after them. Mention us in a post, refering traffic to us, and we will count up the referals from sitemeter. Whoever sends us the most traffic gets a weekly or better link as his or her charechter appears. All participants will be named to the Presidents Economic Board of Advisers. Think of it- you and Volcker hanging out at the fed-- Rahm

In spite of all the misspellings, (doesn't Barry know about spellcheck?)which normally puts me off, I visited his site and found it (if I ignore the misspellings) quite humorous.

I'm not sure how important it is to me to "get a character", or get a "weekly or better link", but I have to give him points for his marketing efforts.

So, for that unique marketing effort alone, I urge my few readers to visit Barry's site. I will recommend it for now, as long as it doesn't get too silly to endorse in the future.

Now, speaking of Barry... By now, I'm sure everyone has heard about his reference to The Special Olympics on last night's "Tonight Show", with Jay Leno:

(Listen closely after he mentions his 129 bowling score)

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and agree that his remark was simply intended as self-deprecating humor, and not a veiled, understated slur of the mentally handicapped. I've said worse on occasion.

But then, I'm not the President.

This same man (and his devoted followers)who pretends to be offended at the slightest hint of an insensitive remark should know better than to let slip any comment that could be interpreted by the ever-increasing super thin-skinned segment of our population as so egregious and condescending.

He should know one can't make any kind of remark that might offend anyone.

I have a special needs child myself, but I wasn't particularly offended by his remark. I'm just not as thin-skinned as some.

It could have been simply an unfortunate, naive, less-than-sensitive joke, with no bad intentions, but it could have been (and most likely was) a glimpse into the true character of this lying fraud who pretends to be a hero to the oppressed, underprivileged, and downtrodden.

He's been in office for less than 60 days and already he has embarrassed himself and the office of President several times.

Obama is the real joke.

I didn't stay up to watch BHO's appearance on Jay Leno last night, but I found and posted the entire interview this morning at my web site, HERE, in a post with a featured question.

The media are saying that BHO is a populist. But he's more than that! He's a demagogue and is playing this country like a fiddle.

I agree that Obama is a joke. He should never as President been on the Leno show in the first place This was like Nero playing the violin while Rome burned.

Then the Special Olympics deal was not only stupid but the true nature of how this jack ass thinks. Elitist and everyone else is beneath him.

This whole Presidency and Congressionaral leadership is an embarassment to the Nation and the ramification of their stupidity is dangerour to our country and our allies.

Ken, it doesn't bother me at all for a sitting President to go on the Tonight Show. I see nothing wrong with it. I would have preferred to see a Conservative President on the show, but this appearance gave us the opportunity to see how Obama really thinks.

I have a special needs child as well, and I wasn't offended either. To me, people who say such things are just uncouth.

He used a poor choice of words. It was a gaffe. HOWEVER, imagine if Bush had said it.

I so enojy watching the silver tongue cat fall on his rear without the prompter. Oh wait, he falls on his rear WITH it as well, not even being aware that he isn't reading his own speach...

I think your second assessment is the right one, Mark. It's a sign of his true character! Interesting that "character" is misspelled in the e-mail. I guess people without any may have a hard time getting it right. :)

You're braver than I am. I would deleted that e-mail because I would have thought is was a fraud and contained a virus.

In addition, Mark, I thought that Obama going on the tonight show denigrates the office of the POTUS, especially in times like these. But I'm old school.

B.O. should be impeached just on the grounds of his sheer stupidity.

Gayle,

Barry O stepped out of character in a follow up e-mail to me to thank me for linking to him, and added that the misspellings were intentional. He wanted it to look as if Barry is illiterate, but promised to back off on the misspellings.

I didn't reply, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he is illiterate. He is a learned man. His problem is he learned from the wrong teachers--like Saul Alinsky, etc.

Perhaps, Gayle... but what if Bush had appeared on the show? Would you still feel the same?

He is such an embarrassment.Ket;s send him some DVD's that won't play in the U.S.

I checked out The Audacity of Barry O. What a great concept and pretty funny, too.

Yes, Mark. I can honestly say I would have felt the same way if President Bush had gone on the Tonight Show, or any entertainment show, for that matter. Like I said, I'm old school. I've always thought that the person holding office should respect that office, and I feel that going on entertainment shows like a pop culture star only shows that the president doing so has little or no respect for the office. Whether it's a Democrat or a Republican makes no difference.

I'm also a conservative Republican who is not giving President Bush a pass, either. He did many things I totally disagreed with, first and formost being that I don't think he handled our immigration problems right and I was very upset with him for not pardoning those two border guards much earlier.

I was thinking about what I just wrote and I wasn't really clear enough. I should have said I would have been even angrier had President Bush gone on the Tonight Show. I'm not shocked that Obama did it. After all, it's sort of his modus operandi, but I still believe it's undignified.

Mark said...

Gayle, you are a woman of integrity. I salute you for your consistency.

I still don't have a problem with a President appearing on an entertainment show. That's just me.

At least both of us are honest.

I believe Obama’s gaffe was accidental. And trust me, I’m not one of his followers. He apologized and I think this incident should be over and done with. However, it will be news for the next week or so and every chance the Right gets now, it will use it as ammunition. Of course, I can’t blame them, the Left crucifies everyone on the Right for any little mess up. This should be a lesson to the Left that even a Messiah can make an obtuse mistake. The Left should, in the future, think before they tar and feather someone. But, I’m sure, that won’t happen. They get their jollies out of executing those who aren’t in their corner.

I think you are right. The Obama decision seems to deflect funding from more benign areas of research and towards one that DOES involve killing the unborn. As you say, the approach of Dr Menghele. Evil!
