Not Much To Say

"Opinions founded on prejudice are always sustained with the greatest of violence." ~ Francis Jeffrey

I am having some personal problems currently, as many of you have surmised, and I really don't feel much like blogging, but since I feel an obligation to my regular readers to post something every day I will post this:

Cynthia McKinney is a racist. And an elitist snob. I have been on several blogs today, and almost every one of them is talking about this stupid bigoted Congresswoman, who has the audacity to try to play the victim, when she was completely in the wrong.

The man was doing his job! If I was hit for simply being diligent on the job, I would sue. And I am not the litigious type.

That's all. I can't think of much else to say. I can't sleep lately and I can't eat and I can't think straight.

I am going to church today. I don't go to church much, but as Ulysses Everett McGill said, "Any person will cast about in his hour of need." When I am down and can't bring myself out of it, I go to my knees and seek the guidance and comfort of the Lord.

Good night and don't forget to set your clocks ahead.

Mark,

I don't know what's going on with you, but I hope you are able to snap out of it.

And yeah...that congresswoman grates on my nerves. Serious racial chip on her shoulder and has to demean others to make herself feel worthwhile by flaunting her status around. That's at least the impression I get from her.

Gotta love Ulysses E. McGill.

Hope you had a restoring time at church. I'm actually on that goes every week and, as chance would have it, am home this week - so, you're sorta filling in for me today. Thanks.

And she is entirely the burden, or the blessing, of the people of Georgia's Fourth District.

Mark, I'm pretty sure that some things in your life would be better if you went to church regularly. I'm sort of surprised to hear that you don't, considering some of the hardline positions you take. Floored, actually, that you don't attend regularly.

The main reason I start attending regularly again last fall was the images from Katrina -- not the idea that God whacked the Gulf Coast, which is BS, but the images of, and the reminder that, there are an awful lot of poor people in this country and shame on me for forgetting.

The other reason was this: No way could I honestly engage people on matters of faith, doctine, religion and etc., if I, myself, was not actively seeking to grow my faith and seek out other like-minded and like-hearted people -- in a church.

So, best wishes on your problems. I recently came through a scary time, myself. It would've been a lot scarier if I hadn't been going to church regularly, plus trying to read and meditate some every day besides. Go to church, dude.

If one churhc doesn't do anything for ya, go to another one. God is in most of 'em, ny far -- but He speaks to each of us in different ways. I personally recommend any pre-1979-right-wing-takeover Southern Baptist Church (Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, now, I think), or a United Church of Christ-Congregationalist church.

I've just returned from a Church I've never been to before. It is a fundamentalist church, even more so than me, if you can believe that. It's position statement, I agree with except for this phrase:

"We oppose modernism, worldliness, and formalism". I have no problem with the opposition to formalism and worldliness, but modernism?

Strange position for a church that asks, on it's visitors card form, for my e-mail address.

ER, I have said many times that I am Christian but not particuarly religious. My faith is pretty strong nonetheless, in that, when I really need faith, I can find it.

I ran into a familiar face there. A woman who works in one of the banks that I work with during the week. She is single and close to my age. Maybe that's a good sign.

"She is single and close to my age. Maybe that's a good sign." Anything that gets you to go to church, Mark! :)

In my church (Episcopalian) they say it doesn't matter why you start going to church, as long as you go. You don't have to worry about "finding God" because God will find you.

I think you've already found Him though.

I didn't reset my clock and woke up this morning at 8:00am. My church starts at 9:00am. Wish I had come here last night and seen your post. I was the reader today, and I live in the country. I made it on time but still don't know how I did that. I must have had God's help.

Cynthia McKinney definitely is a racist! I sure hope she doesn't get anywhere with this. She should be thanking the guard for trying to protect her ungrateful butt!

Mark--

Just wanted to share 1 Peter 5:7:

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

I hesitate to ask, but why do I keep hearing conservative commentators suggest that Ms. McKinney is a racist?

Hey buddy hang in there. Your other post had some sarcasm in there so wasn't sure if you were being serious about the girlfriend. I'm so sorry. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Also remember that someone else doesn't determine your worth. I know I sometimes care too much about what others think of me. You are special to God and unique and valuable whether others remember to tell you or not. May God bless ya!!

This is not meant to be criticism, honest, but God has no problem finding us. We have a problem admitting to ourselves He's really there... and cares. It's easy for us to lose sight of God, but He never loses sight of us.

All things must pass*, Mark. Hang in there...

As to the your objection to the church in question's use of "Modernism," I have to wonder what kind of world they think this will be when God makes it perfect... I doubt we'll be living in an Amish paradise. Technology isn't evil, but the use to which we put it can be. Will there be no work to do? Will there be no art? No concerts? No cookouts? No celebrations of any kind?....... No furniture?

It isn't just a suggestion, Dan. She most definitely IS racist. Why do Liberals think racism is only white hating blacks?

Gayle said...

"Why do liberals think racism is only whites hating blacks?" Because they aren't very bright Mark. I'm sorry, but that's why they are liberals. And also because they don't understand reverse discrimination. I see it here in Texas all the time. Up close and personal in-your-face reverse discrimination.

I have never discrimated against blacks. But reverse discrimination is going on big time, I swear to God. I think you know I wouldn't say that lightly.

"Because they aren't very bright Mark."

There is more to the story.

For instance, Herbert Marcuse (1898-1979), a thinker highly venerated by the left, explained that liberating tolerance "would mean intolerance against movements of the right, and tolerance for movements of the left." This is just the implication from the Marxist dogma that thought is just superstructure that results from unconscious economic class conditions. This dogma, an epistemological black hole like other dogmas in human life, makes much of the left impervious to evidence and logic.

You misunderstand me, Mark. I was asking what specifically in Ms. McKinney's behavior has caused them/you to suggest she's racist?

The current story in the news is about her slapping an officer, I haven't read anything about her saying she slapped him because he's white. How do y'all get from that to thinking she's racist?

Dan Trabue said...

"did you notice in those news stories about McKinney that she's the claiming that she was a victim of a racist officer because he (the white officer) didn't recognize her..."

So she's a racist because she suspected him of racism? Could she simply be mistaken (or not) and not racist? That seems a pretty big leap to call her a racist based solely on that. Is that all there is?
