What I Don't Understand

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." ~ Matthew 19:14

Do you know what I don't understand? I don't understand Christians who support political candidates who support abortion. More than that, really. I don't understand Christians who are Liberals.

Perhaps the most important issue that has come to distinguish a Liberal from a Conservative is abortion.

In my view, Christianity and a pro-choice ideology are incompatible with each other.

Christians are supposed to believe in the sanctity of life. How do Christian Liberal/Democrats justify their party's stance on abortion? Considering the Democrat's stance on this issue, I don't understand how Christians can justify being Democrats.

Is it possible to support a candidate without supporting a major plank in his platform?

Especially a candidate who may have a considerable impact on legislation that would directly strengthen or weaken Roe v Wade in the future?

I don't think it matters much what a candidate for state Treasurer, for instance, believes about abortion.

But a President, Governor, or United States legislator?

How can a Christian reconcile his belief in the sanctity of life with the taking of innocent human life within the womb? It just makes no sense to me.

Why would a Christian vote for a candidate who openly advocates a position which favors abortion?

Barack Hussein Obama not only favors abortion on demand, in any trimester, without reservations or conditions, but when he was a State Senator in Illinois, he voted against legislation that would save live babies born in spite of failed abortion attempts.

Get that?

Obama voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

He thinks babies who survive abortion attempts should be neglected, and deprived of care, until they die.

How can Barack Obama call himself a Christian?

And, seriously, how could a Christian have voted for that man?

Christians who vote for such an obvious enemy to Christian values must be ignoring the abortion issue in favor of some other issue they consider more important. I believe they have a much too cavalier attitude regarding abortion.

Millions of innocent babies have been slaughtered since the Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade.

That is a fact that, in my opinion, cannot be ignored. How can any Christian consider that a trivial matter, not important enough to consider when choosing to vote for one candidate or another? If that is indeed their reasoning?

Here in Virginia, the race for Governor depends a great deal on the how the two candidates differ in their opinion of abortion. The Democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds, is actually using abortion as a wedge issue, advertising that his opponent, Bob McDonnell, has both introduced and supported legislation that would limit a "woman's right to choose". It is a major plank in his campaign platform. He would like you to vote against his opponent, based a great deal on this issue. That, and a thesis McDonnell wrote 20 years ago in graduate school, which really didn't contain anything objectionable to anyone who sincerely advocates Christian values.

In my opinion, Creigh Deeds is only hurting himself. Virginia has traditionally been a Conservative state. Yes, we have a Democrat Governor now, and Obama won Virginia in the last election, but I believe most Virginians are still vehemently opposed to abortion.

Deeds is at least 10 percentage points behind McDonnell in every poll. One would think he'd realize he's playing with fire.

And, make no mistake.

Abortion is a seminal issue with both Liberals and Conservatives.

One of the first questions Liberal media types ask Republican candidates for any office is, "Where do you stand in regard to abortion rights?" If a Republican says he is against abortion, the Liberal media uses this for ammunition to begin their onslaught of attacks against the Republican.

Democrats who are against abortion often keep a low profile on their view. If they campaigned on the right to life, they would lose their own party's support, but they often get Republicans votes.

Don't tell me that isn't significant.

Here's the wrap: If it's such an important issue (and I agree that it is), how can a Christian, in good conscience, support any candidate who favors abortion?

And frankly, although I am loathe to ask, how can one call himself a Christian who supports the wholesale slaughter of millions of innocent pre-born babies?

And yet, I know without a doubt, there are Christians who do.

I just don't understand.

This is a rhetorical question:

How can you equate Black Liberation Theology (the President's religion) with Christianity?

The President and his minions are so far afield from "good" that I wonder if they ever knew what "good" or God is?

Even from a Muslim perspective - presuming the President is a closet Muslim - he's an Obamanation.

Part of our proud modern world.

Whether Obama is a Muslim or a Black Liberation theology Christian is debatable. I don't much care as far as this topic goes.

What I don't understand is how Christians support candidates and causes that are antithetical to traditional Christian values.

To me, that smells like hypocrisy.

Excellent pots. I have said the same thing myself verbally for a long time. It amazes me that so-called Christians will allow labor unions, historical party affiliations, and other things to tell them who to vote for, but not listen to their own Christian beliefs in the matter.

I think they will have some answering to do for that one day.

How many times has Obama been to church since gaining the White House?

He didn't go the week of his inauguration, or the week after that. In fact he's still, supposedly, looking for a church. What? Is there no Black Liberation Abomination of a church in DC?

Black Liberation theology is not Christianity.

As to your questions. Only God knows for certain the shade of a man's heart, but one thing I know, He told me to NOT trust every spirit... to try them... see if they are indeed children of God. By their fruit we are to know them. And I can't imagine any man with the Holy Spirit truly residing in him voting to kill the innocent children. What kind of fruit is that?

There is no Godly justification for abortion. Any Liberal who tells you otherwise is a flat-out liar. Any Liberal who tells you otherwise while claiming to be a Christian... a follower of Christ... is worst kind of liar there is.

Religion is subjective. A great many liberals create God in their own image, therefore any abomination is acceptable - maybe even desirable in the warped twisted reality they live in.

The Nazi prison camp guards had "Got mit uns" (God is with us) on their belt buckles.

There are some Democrats who oppose abortion. And do so without too much fear of being voted out in their district. However they don't seem to make much of a fuss over it when they get to Congress. But then, there are many supposedly pro-life Republicans who behave the same way.

Here's a question. Say there's two candidates - one who you oppose on every issue except abortion, and one who you agree with on every position except abortion. Which do you vote for?

Mark said...

Easy question for me, Cameron. I will vote against the pro abortion candidate every time. There is no justification to take millions of innocent lives in my opinion. It is the absolute worse ideology there is.

I agree that abortion is a sin. But is it any greater sin than adultery or any other sin? So one candidate is strongly anti-abortion, the other candidate commits adultery> Which one is the better choice? In, SC, our governor was anti-abortion, pro-people, a good governor by all accounts. But then he was caught in an adulterous affair.

All sins separate us from a perfect and Holy God.

But some sins have more consequences than others.

Adultery is really bad. Murder is worse, and especially on the scale of abortions in the U.S.: 3,000+ tomorrow, and the next day and the next day . . .

No one who supports or advocates abortion, euthanasia, same sex marriage or illegal immigration can honestly call themselves Christian. You cannot be a Christian and at the same time oppose what Christianity teaches, even if you attend church every day. After all, if I stood in garage 24 - 7, it will never make me a car.

I respectfully disagree, Father. I know my Democrat? Liberal relatives are Christian. There is no doubt in my mind, but I must confess, it was with my Liberal Doctor nephew in mind that I wrote this post. I wanted a response from him, and boy! Did I get it! Read my next post.

Neil said "All sins separate us from a perfect and Holy God." - I completely agree.

He went on to say "But some sins have more consequences than others." - Oh? In whose eyes? Does this mean that some sins are worse than others? Is there a sliding scale? How much sin can a Christian commit and stay a Christian?

Or, let's put this another way. Some say that they can't see how anyone would vote for a pro-abortionist. What about voting for someone who is pro-adultery? Or pro-(pick-your-own-sin)?
