As my Father used to say to me:

"Too soon old, too late smart."

Or, as someone once said (their name slips my mind in my senior moment) "I was born ignorant and I have been losing ground ever since."

So, you are 57. You only have 3 more years before you enter the "Old Farts Club", which I joined 3 years ago.

Have a good day and God Bless.

I'd wish you a happy birthday, but after that list, I'm too depressed.

I've read all of Vonnegut, but he's off base here. My High School Class, Dunedin (Fla.) High School, Class of '65 would do a far better job as 18-year-olds than our current "leaders"...

And one of the reasons is that we all took a state-mandated senior course entitled "Americanism vs. Communism".

You are officially invited to join S.W.I.N.E., my Pogo inspired association. It stands for: Seniors Wildly Indignant about Nearly Everything.

Yeah, some of the younger, high schoolish/early college age girls working around town (e.g cashiers, waitress, etc.) occasionally call me "Sir".

OOF!

Happy Birthday Mark!

For one who's 53, I'd say you ain't that old.

It's all in how you feel, I think. I have always been unusually healthy. I rarely get sick or have health issues. This year has been different, especially the last several weeks. My health has taken something of a nosedive in the last couple of months. I am so unused to feeling bad that I don't know how to handle it. Doc says it's a consequence of growing older.

So, This year, I really do feel older.

I love quotes! I have an entire book full of them. It was a gift. I like to go through it and just read them.

Trader Rick, too bad "Americanism vs. Communism" isn't required anymore. Although it stands to reason. The liberals would have a hard time recruiting if the students from our public schools were taught the truth now, eh?

Thanks, Krystal. The post is not just a collection of quotes. I always find some subtle way of telling readers it's my birthday without actually saying it flat out. Check out some of my previous Dec 5th posts.

You need to check out Canada's Kate at www.smalldeadanimals.com. She's so far right she makes you guys look like you got stuck in the middle. Here's a quote for you. "Truth is like clay, it needs to be molded." Who said that?

Mark said...

I don't know, who said that, Art, but apparently no one else does. I couldn't find it on google. It doesn't really make sense if you parse it out, though.

Truth is solid, unchangeable, firm, and always absolute. How could it be molded?
