"And when no hope was left in sight, on that starry starry night, you took your life as lovers often do" ~ Don McLean
I found this video while searching for another one by Don McLean (which I didn't find). It's just too beautiful not to share.
For those of you who don't already know. This song is about Vincent Van Gogh, who created a painting called "Starry Night". This is what it looks like:

Wow. Imagine writing a song and having someone like Chet Atkins cover it. And then imagine performing it along side him. Way cool.
The first song I learned to finger-pick was "Vincent". With this vid I might be able to figure out how it went.
I've never been a fan of Van Gogh. I always had a hard time with a guy who could do such a nice self portrait and then only do pieces like the one you've presented here. As the saying goes, I might not know art, but I know what I like. I liked the movie, though, with Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh.
Yes, an amazing song, from an beautiful musician.
C'mon, Eric. He wrote "American Pie". He's not that beautiful!
I like "American Pie". The song, I mean. I don't know what ingredients are in American Pie so I won't claim to like it until I do.
You have to give McLean some respect. The reason we never heard from him again, is that he didn't want to become commercial... or something like that.
Now I understand the song. Thanks Mark.
