"Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." ~ Groucho Marx
Lately, I've re-discovered the fun of blogging. Here's an example:
Barry Cantaloupe won't appear on ABC's "The View" because he thinks Elizabeth Hasselbeck is dangerous.
Let me see if I understand this. Liz won her fame on TV as a "Survivor" contestant. She can't even hold her own against crazy Rosie. She was most likely chosen to be the Conservative co-host of the program because she is pretty much an intellectual lightweight in comparison to all the qualified applicants they could have chosen.
And Barry Cantaloupe is afraid of her?
Well, if he wasn't considered a big wimp before, he has certainly won over the sceptics now.
Kind of reminds you of the refusal of the Democrats to debate on FOX, doesn't it?
Oh, and one word about the use of substituting an insulting word in place of some one's real name, like "General Betray us" instead of "Petraus" or "Barry Cantaloupe" instead of "Barry Manilow", or "Schmuckie" Schumer instead of "Chuck" Schumer.
I refuse to condemn moveon.org's defamatory characterization of General Petraus when I do the same thing to denigrate their leaders. Moveon.org's tactics are childish but so are mine. If I do it, I can't very well complain when they do. That's hypocritical.
Besides, it's just being petty and over sensitive to take offense at this stuff. General Petraus didn't respond to the slur because it isn't worthy of a response, and that's the way I see it.
Are we having fun yet?

woManilow offers an excellent example of "progressive" intolerance.
Hi Mark,
Yes, a truly funny post. Poor Barry. We scare him! :)
Blessings
Mark, you're way off base here on a number of points, unless i'm missing a subtle humor. Calling that poor confused singer a fruit is a lot different than calling our commander in the field a traitor. And as for Elizabeth, she always held her own against Rosie intellectually (anybody over the age of five would have no problem with that), she just couldn't outshout her... Fox's Megan whats her name was on the view this morning, and she had said she was going to ask them about this, but didn't, so apparently they asked her not to bring it up...Altho, now at least Liz has an ally on the religious front, as the new fat little Sherry girl is a testifying Christian, so that will help balance things out on that front--and she has no qualms about speaking her mind either...
I like a few Manilow songs.
"Weekend in New England" and "When October Goes" being my favorites.
Beyond this, I have nothing else to add.
Carry on.
George Sore-ass ???
Yeah... Elizabeth held her own and gave as good [better, even] than she got. But I suspect this is an attempt at humor.
You must listen to Savage... "Schmuckie" Shumer?
It was quite a shock to see a picture of Barely Man-enough on your blog. Even worse, it was bigger than Hasselbeck's. That's just wrong.
"Her name was Lola, she was a show girl..."
I agree that Liz made very good points against Rosie, but due to the lack of support from her other co-hosts, she failed to hold her own, as I said. Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin, and other radio hosts have said the same about her. They felt sorry for her because she was so overwhelmed by the Libs that control the program.
And Rick, respectfully, Yes, there is a difference between calling someone a fruit and calling someone a traitor.
But as I pointed out, the slur against the General was petty and childish and just isn't worthy of our outrage. It's just typical politics. Democrats always make outrageous and untrue statements about Conservatives, and they will continue the practice. I will not lower myself to their level by feighning outrage. Instead, I simply dismiss their snarkiness and ignore them, which I feel is a more effective response. Nothing would make the Dems angrier than to be ignored.
Now, if I never called any Lib or Democrat a name, I would be correct in expressing outrage, but since I do call them names, I think it would be hypocritical to admonish them for doing it.
Sorry, Art. I don't comntrol the size of the pics on here. I barely have enough computer savvy to insert a picture as it is. I would like to post some youtube videos on my blog but i still don't know how. I am a techno-moron.
By the way, Rick, if you are confused about use of humor read the post immediately preceding this one. I think it's funny. Notice how I put Osama's e-mail text in girly pink? That was intentional.
Nope EL, not Savage. Mark Levin. Don't confuse the two. Levin can't stand Savage. He calls him Weiner.
(Savage's real name is Weiner) And Levin really has a field day with that!
I just heard about this today and I was incredulous. There are like 5 women on the View and he's scared of the one conservative who barely ever gets to talk? It is about the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of.
Although, I do have to take issue with you on your characterization of Hasselback and the Petraeus ad. I think Hasselback does the best she can in an EXTREMELY hostile work environment where it is like 4 liberals to 1 conservative.
And the Petraeus ad was traitorous and extremely offensive. I don't think it is comparable to your average criticism of a public figure.
If you want to embed videos on your blog, drop a quick comment (it can be as simple as typing a "?") on my blog, and I will email you easy to follow instructions.
I have no problem using disparaging names like Barely Manlynow because the left deserves the names. Liberals are determined to behave badly without suffering any consequences. I consider it an honor and a duty to heap condemnation upon their brows.
I don't have a problem with using disparaging names. I just won't complain when the other side does it as well. I expect nothing less from them.
Ah, but there is a difference between telling the truth and mean-spirited slander. What moveon.org said about General Petraeus was vicious character assassination. What we say about moveon.org is probably understated.
I like calling liberals bad names!! They deserve it. Big time. Jerks!!
Manilow...sheesh!
I wrote a glowing tribute to him last year after his brilliant appearance as a "coach" on American Idol. He's truly a professional when it comes to music and performance. I don't believe for one moment that the Manilow I know and respect would do this seriosly.
He's got a new album either soon to be released or just released. I am convinced that he is riding a publicity horse, parading his name in an arena ripe for notoriety.
Publicity...that's what it's all about. Even though he is a fag, he is enough of a professional to not really feel that way about an insignificant talking-head like Liz.
Re, "Even though he is a fag ..."
So sucketh the Toad!
Even tho he's a fag, he's a jerk.
I don't care what he is; musically speaking, Manilow is a fine musician. I'm not going to roast the guy because he's gay, but I agree the guy's a jerk, as most Liberals are who refuse venues simply because of Conservatives... like all those namby-pamby Democrats who won't debate on Fox News. What a bunch of wussies.
Barely's a fag?? I did not know that. Really.
Off topic, but it refers to Manilow:
I've been in rock bands and one of the guys with whom I've rocked has been playing bass since he was 13, almost 40 years ago. He likes to think of himself as great, musically astute, and a host of other self-aggrandizing adjectives (He's a legend in his own mind.) He's also written songs for most of that time, with nothing ever published. I once asked him, since he was into Beatles, Beach Boys, Eagles, Steeley Dan, Tom Waits (just to give ya'll an idea) if he would be content with fame as a song writer/musician, if he was considered akin to Manilow or the "next" Manilow. Just think, platinum albums, millions of dollars, and everyone thinks of you like Lawrence Welk. Manilow once said, "I can't believe they say I'm not hip." Well, he never was in the minds of rock and rollers of any stripe.
BTW, my friend said he'd be cool with it. I think he lies.
I gotta agree with Trader Rick and Dee on this one Mark.
There is no comparison of Barry F****** Manilow to General Patraeus!!
The General Patraeus ad was put out by a bunch of cheap ass, cowardly, thugs and run in the New York Times!
Oops forgot,
As for Liz,
She may be a bit of a wimp but she ran Rosie's fat ass off the View
;-)
mark--
I want to politely disagree about Petraeus.
If people want to call Bush names like Hitler for fun, well, that goes with the political territory. The men in uniform who are risking their lives deserve better.
I simply don't understand the left anymore. They always tell me to sign up, and then they call those who sign up cold blooded killers (Murtha), and say the military is betraying us (MoveOn). In addition, the left tells young conservatives to enlist, but want to keep the ROTC off college campuses, denying people opportunities to sign up. Is there any logic behind this? It seems like hatin' on America to me.
Telling me that Barry Manlove refuses to appear on "The View" is like telling me that Big Bird refuses to appear on "Flip This House."
I wouldn't have known he had been there if he HAD gone, and it makes absolutely no difference to me if he doesn't.
While he may believe that all of America was waiting with baited breath to hear his opinions, and that we have been cheated out of exposure to his brilliance by Elizabeth's "dangerous" extremism, the truth is that she is more relevant than he is.
He has no credentials as a political pundit.
If he wants to appear on some show that I might watch anyway, and SING, then I might watch him.
Oh, and as for the political layout of "The View"... If they wanted balance, they would have Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin join the cast.
This reminds of the new year's eve concert I took My aunt to see of Barry Manilow...He walks out on stage and the first thing he says is..."O.K. Where did you tell your friends you really were tonight."
See...even he knows he is a putz, but yet strangely we all know the lyrics to at least one of his songs...how is that?
The only reason to vote a democrat into the White House is to shut these people up!
Politics is only a small part of the agenda on the View, Tug. The other panelists besides Elisabeth ( A shoe designer by trade who became a reality show celebrity) are not Political Pundits like Michelle, they are washed up left-wing reporterettes, stand up comics, movie stars and TV actresses, with little real understanding of what's going on in today's world.
Rosie brought all the hoo-haw about the View with her illogical diatribes and outrageous statements. And Elisabeth rope-a-doped her with bulldog like tenacity and made her flip out and get fired. So who's the sharpest knife in that drawer?
I think Sherry might help E. a little in the future, and I bet BaBa realized her show was leaning a bit too much to the hairy-bizzaro left and that's one of the reasons why she's there.
Go Gators!
Focus, everyone...the fag just needed a bit o' publicity.
And Er...you knew what I meant, didn't you? What's the diff...gay, fag, poofta, fairy, queer!
He made the choice...and I make my choice...to call gays what they have long been known as...fags.
I don't give a flying F*CK what some fag...or some God-mocker like you thinks.
Remember that.
Mark, I can't believe you called Manilow "Cantaloupe."
Years ago, my mom was a big Barry Manilow fan and my dad would call him "Herbert Cantaloupe," just to be funny.
Thanks for bringing back that memory for me.
