What Is KONY?

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." ~ Edmund Burke

I rarely, if ever, watch news on television. I prefer to be entertained by TV. My wife and I are down to one vehicle and she doesn't let me listen to talk radio when we are out driving together. Since I get the majority of my news from the "alternative media", AKA blogs, during my extended absence from the internet, I missed out on a lot of important stories and events.

One day during this time of no internet, I happened to notice a placard inside a car window that read, "KONY 2012". It had a picture of an elephant and a donkey, the symbols of the Republican and Democratic parties, on it blended together into one beast.

I had no idea what it represented, so, once I finally had access to the web, I googled the word, "KONY".

I learned that Joseph Kony is the name of a savage warlord who kidnaps children from their homes in Uganda and forces them to fight in his "army", often killing their parents in the process. Sometimes, he even forces the children to murder their own parents.

He has been doing this for over 20 years.

Some bleeding heart Liberal became aware of this atrocity and decided to try to stop the carnage, and as every good Liberal always does, he decided to mount a campaign to make everyone "aware" of the problem.

Now, with most of these causes, I don't really need a bunch of so-called philanthropic Liberals standing around with their hands outstretched begging me for money simply to make me aware of some terminal disease or health hazard or scams such as the mythical Climate change and other eminent global catastrophes.

After all, I am already well aware there is AIDS, Cancer, bullying, and weather changes, etc.

Being aware of the existence of these things, in my humble opinion, won't make them go away. And donating money to these causes does nothing but line pockets. Especially, as in the case of AIDS, when our society is still actively encouraging the very behaviors that cause AIDS in the first place.

All that said, I actually think the KONY 2012 campaign is a great idea!

Although, I think the posters and bumper stickers could be more informative.

Yes, they do make people more aware. In that regard the campaign did what it was intended to do.

It made me aware.

But, I still think the organizers need to explain their intent better. Until I Googled it, I thought some guy from NY was running for President as an independent.

OK. so now I'm aware that some madman is doing horrific things to children in Uganda.

What do I do now?

The same thing the bleeding heart Liberal that started this whole thing does. Make people aware of the problem. Ostensibly, if enough people are aware of these things that are happening, hopefully, some one with the appropriate weapons and firepower and an army will listen, and be inspired to ferret this guy out and put an end to the madness.

But then, when he's gone, I'm sure some other whacko is standing in the wings waiting to take his turn.

That's just the way it goes in the third world.

I wonder. Are the bleeding heart Liberals aware of that?

Kony is just the latest fad in liberal 'awareness.' Last year it was George Klooney's pleading for money to help the victims of tyrants in Sudan, before that it was Richard Gere begging for money to help Tibetan monks fight the Chinese, and on and on.

You've not missed much over the past few months, Mark. Just new names to the same old evils.

It is interesting how "faddy" the liberals are with their "causes."

This guy is horrible! Simply removing him will be difficult and unproductive.

Ducky's here said...

You weren't aware of the LRA? You been under a rock?
You needed a scam artist trying to run a grift to make you aware?

The you give liberals the tone?
Pathetic.

Ducky, Mark didn't have a computer for a while...nice of you to let him have it on top of the problems he's had. HE isn't pathetic.

Mark...by the way, don't waste your time with Liberalman... he's ubiquitous and there is zero thought process going on there; he's just a lib hack who'll haunt you. I saw you chastise him at AOW's.. lay low if you don't want him pestering you constantly :-)

Mark,
After all, I am already well aware there is AIDS, Cancer, bullying, and weather changes, etc.

I want to address the latest make-everybody-aware-of-bullying narrative.

These narratives are nothing more than distractions. What's the point of all these narratives? To make us even more pessmistic? To make us all feel guilty somehow that we should be doing SOMETHING about these problems? Do WHAT, exactly? The best that I can tell, the purpose of the narratives is to get the GOVERNMENT to do "something."

In my view, awareness doesn't accomplish a damn thing.

Mark said...

Yes, AOW, I tend to agree with you. Perhaps it is better for us individually to be blissfully unaware of evil in the world.

However, if awareness motivates us to do something concrete to change things for the better, isn't it a good thing? How could it not be?

I think it's telling that Ducky, the quintessential Liberal, admits that one of his own kind is a grifter. What's that make Ducky?

Good going, Duck. If you weren't irrelevant before, you certainly are now.

See, the thing about Liberals is that they don't really want to stop it. They like to whine and sound all informed and concerned. They think it makes them look important.

Lone Ranger said...

Why isn't anyone asking what our interests are in Uganda? Liberals certainly made no bones about that when Bush went into Iraq, where Saddam was doing horrible things to Iraqi children.

I'll put you back on my short but high-quality blogroll.

Oops, seems I never took you off my blogroll.

You know what's really funny, Parkie? You still think I'm going to allow your comments.

Marshal Art said...

I hope that like me, Mark, you would allow a comment from Parkie if it included something akin to substance. Someday I would like to hear him actually argue for his positions. I do so without holding my breath.

Parklife said...

Thats funny.. b/c I read your comments and would actually like to hear something that wasn't ignorant.

Marshal Art said...

That is assuming on your part, Parkie, that you even know the difference. I've seen no indication by anything YOU'VE posted that would suggest that is possible. Thus, your poor attempts at cleverness are all the more pathetic. More impressive would be if you could actually take the time to explain what it is you believe is ignorant and why. But you don't have the least bit of courage or intelligence to do so.

Parklife said...

Me.. assume??

I would never make an ass out of you and me. Your comments sure make an ass out of you.

You want me to explain everything to you? Why? Once you prove you can comprehend something, I'll give it a shot. Till then, I wont waste my time.

I just finished reading a few racist comments by you. I think Im done for today.

Marshal Art said...

"Your comments sure make an ass out of you."

And yet again, as always, you provide no explanation for how that has ever been so. But then, you're not capable.

"You want me to explain everything to you? Why? Once you prove you can comprehend something, I'll give it a shot. Till then, I wont waste my time."

You're not even clever enough to come up with a good dodge. This one is a pathetic and cowardly attempt. You cannot show I struggle at all with comprehension, but only wish that I did.

"I just finished reading a few racist comments by you. I think Im done for today."

I don't make racist comments. You've never shown that I've made a racist comment. You were done a long time ago.

Parklife said...

"You still think I'm going to allow your comments."

You still think I care.

"I don't make racist comments."

All I had to do was find some of your comments on Zimmerman & Martin. B/c you dont think your comments are racist that doesnt let you off the hook.

But, dont let me get in the way of your liberal / black / homosexual / everything that is different than you hate fest. Please continue.

Parklife said...

"You cannot show I struggle at all with comprehension, but only wish that I did."

How is that list of 5 going? Still mulling it over are we.

Marshal Art said...

The "list of 5" refers to a challenge by Alan, who is another lefty sycophant of Geoffrey and Dan T. He challenged me to find 5 examples of disagreement between him and Geoffrey to show I pay attention. At first, I thought I read "agreement" and listed examples of that. Then, after being shown that I misread, I explained that the exercise was pointless. It would only show that they are not the same pea in the pod, but two different peas of the same pod. Furthermore, I only comment on posts of interest to me anyway, reading only those posts that seem as if I might be interested in the first place, so I can't say as I've ever come upon examples of disagreement between them.

But note the diversionary aspect of the challenge itself. What good does it do to make the challenge? Supposedly, there is some victory in presenting me as less than perfect in recalling who said what and when he said it. OK. I concede I lack that perfection. But as to the larger issues I attempt to discuss, there is no real attempt to counter with fact and evidence. In typical lefty style, that effort lasts only so long, and then the personal attacks are all that is left to them. You'll note, for example, that Parkie makes no effort to prove any of his accusations against me. He'll respond that he has done so in the past, but one would be hard pressed to dig up any examples of what normal and rational people would describe as "proofs". Note the following:

"All I had to do was find some of your comments on Zimmerman & Martin. B/c you dont think your comments are racist that doesnt let you off the hook."

What he allegedly found he had no courage to present here. It's enough for him to call what he "found" racist. Furthermore, I was not "on the hook" in the first place. HE was on the hook to provide evidence to support his charges of racism, homophobia or whatever other accusations he's up for trying. He remains on the hook.

This is why I do not ban the lefties (though I have no problem deleting specific comments). I invite them, indeed encourage them to support their positions. It's fun watching them try to weasel out, despite how predictable.

Parklife said...

Ahh.. yes. You were interested in completing the task until you failed. Then you gave up. This is what it means to be a conservative.

"He remains on the hook."

Yes. I must be mistaken, it was somebody else that calls people "Homo". Of course, thats not offensive or degrading to you so it doesnt count.

But again, this is off topic. Please stay focused on kony and how horrible liberals are. Perhaps you could explain how a dysfunctional organization requesting private donations is the fault of the government. That is for starters. Later we can get into the public masturbation and imperialism stuff.

Btw, what a gem, "in my view, awareness doesn't accomplish a damn thing." Spoken like a true conservative.

Marshal Art said...

"Ahh.. yes. You were interested in completing the task until you failed. Then you gave up."

Not quite, Sparky. In fact, if you go back and look, my initial response, even to my mistaken understanding of the challenge, was a flippant, off-the-top-of-my-head answer. I made no specific response to the "challenge" as I saw it at the time, nor did I make any attempt to offer one.

Next, I know you hang your hat on my use of the contraction "homo", but as I've said repeatedly, I'm not all that concerned how those willfully engaging in bad behavior respond to accurate labeling that indicates their bad behavior. I don't care about how offended would be the person who takes what doesn't belong to him without the consent of the owner in the event that I refer to him as a thief. I'm not worried about how degraded he might feel to be known by the term his actions determine.

As for staying focused, it was you who changed the subject in typical lefty fashion, and now, after exposing yourself for the pathetic soul you are, you wish to change it again back to the topic.

"Spoken like a true conservative."

You stumble upon fact. Awareness alone solves nothing. Lefties believe wearing a ribbon will solve breast cancer or AIDS or whatever, doing very little else to make a difference.

Your lame comments are public masturbation enough.

Parklife said...

lol.. Spoken like a true failure. Well done Marshall.. Well done! You prove my points every time you make a comment.

Its clear you have a loose grip on reality. Just as clear you will not be joining the rest of civil society any time soon. Its too bad really, I was looking forward to you completing something.

Marshal Art said...

"You prove my points every time you make a comment."

Someday, troll-boy, you'll really have to explain how. If you're still going on about Alan's "challenge", you have no standing on such a thing as you have never met my challenge to you, that you post a comment with substance, supporting your claims and allegations and actually engaging in dialogue like something akin to a mature human being. Geoffrey can insist that he doesn't have to explain anything HE says, but you demand that I answer to Alan's "challenge", as if he has any authority to demand anything from anyone. But YOU, who never puts forth any effort, never shows the least bit of courage to actually put forth an argument...what a sad and pathetic little troll you are to think you have room or standing to have expectations of anyone.

Parklife said...

Lol.. idiot..

game.. set.. match.

Go home before you damage your last braincell.

Marshal Art said...

Typically, you presume to have won something without having scored a point. That's quite a fantasy world in which you live. So let's see your argument here, little troll. Is it that because I don't feel compelled to consider how a sinner might object to being referred to by words that indicate their sin, then that means I'm a "hater" or in this case a "homophobe"? Is that your argument? Are you saying that you fret over how to describe someone who breaks a law, worrying about how that person would prefer to be called? Is that your argument?

You're a sad and pathetic little man, Ben. Apparently you insist that I be the reprobate you are and deal with immoral people on THEIR/YOUR terms. Ain't gonna happen. Especially since you don't have it in you to even attempt a decent defense of whatever the hell position you have taken.

What's more, I AM home, and secondly, it ain't my "last" braincell, poor boy. It's merely the one I suffer to use to deal with the likes of you. Only one cell is required for that.

This is too good..

Marco Rubio gives two examples of American citizens doing good for the world:
1) Inventing Twitter
2) #Kony2012

Marshal Art said...

What the hell are you talking about? Is it too much to provide a link, you pathetic little troll-boy? I have no doubt you don't understand what Rubio is driving at by using these examples. I have less doubt that you are purposely using them out of context in a lame attempt to suggest something negative about a guy who's jockstrap you aren't worthy of picking up out of the hamper. Try being a man by being more explicit with your idiotic drive-by commentary. Cowardly little troll.
