My Prediction

"Since a politician never believes what he says, he is quite surprised to be taken at his word." ~ Charles De Gaulle

Before Obama gives his "historic" speech tonight, I want to make this prediction about what he will say:

He will claim he has a plan, but will not give any details.

He will blame the problem on Bush and/or the Republicans and/or the tea party.

If I am wrong and he does give details, they will involve higher taxes, and/or "sacrifices".

The words "revenue" and "stimulus" will be inserted in his speech, probably more than once each.

He will claim Americans "want" his policies.

I will not watch his speech. I'd rather stick red hot needles in my eyes then listen to his B.S.

Y'all watch it for me.

Let's see if I'm right.

Too bad. You missed a great speech. As to your predictions:

He didn't claim he had a plan. He announced the American Jobs Act, a bill, not a plan. He did provide as much detail as possible in a 30-some-odd minute speech and promised a bill in the hands of Congress within a week.

Didn't hear "Bush" or "previous administration" or "Tea Party". The only thing he said about "Republicans" is that almost every provision in the AJA is either a Republican idea or has been supported by Republicans.

Much of the act comes in the form of middle class tax cuts and small business tax cuts and credits. I don't think he used the work "sacrifice", but he did call for people who can easily afford it to help to pay for the credits to small businesses so that there would be no increase to the deficit for the AJA.

I don't recall hearing either "revenue" or "stimulus" in the speech.

Yeah, he pretty much did say that Americans agree with what he is asking for, and with good reason. It's absolutely true.

You were pretty much wrong.

Yep, I called it wrong. I should have realized Obama would try to save his tanking approval ratings by seeming to move towards the center, which is what he did.

Actually I did see part of it. I was at Burger King with my wife. She was in a meeting there and I went along cause she wanted me to. The speech was on TV there.

He did call for spending more money, which I should have predicted, and would have, but I just forgot to include it in my prediction. I heard him announce he wants to extend unemployment benefits for another year. Yeah, that will generate sincere job hunting, for sure.

"Aw, I don't feel like going out today. I got a whole other year before I need to find a job!"

All in all, it wasn't really a "save American jobs" act. It was a "Save Obama's job" act.

Wrong

He will blame the problem on Bush and/or the Republicans and/or the tea party.

Wrong, very bipartisan

If I am wrong and he does give details, they will involve higher taxes, and/or "sacrifices".

Way wrong, tax cuts and spending cuts

The words "revenue" and "stimulus" will be inserted in his speech, probably more than once each.

Wrong

He will claim Americans "want" his policies.

True

Pretty poor performance, Mark.

And yet, THERE IS NO BILL. Just a promise of one in the future....

What a tool this clueless moron is.

No bill, no spending cuts. But trust us there will be by 2016 or so.

Pass what now? There is no bill yet. This is another one of these things we will have to pass in order to see what's in it. Not gonna happen. Unlike when Nancy Pelosi ruled the House, there was a noticeable lack of calisthenics behind the president as he have us more of the same.

I'm catching up on my blogs. By now, you know what he did and didn't say. One interesting thing he DID say was that there was nothing new in his proposals.

At least he was honest on that point.
