What's In My Head

OK. What got this song stuck in my head was meeting a guy a few days ago who used to skate in the Roller Derby. He is now a personal trainer. Interestingly enough, he didn't know of this song.

I saw him again today. He told me roller derby isn't around much anymore except for a few lesser leagues in California.

I don't know the song, but certainly do know the voice...
What was the one that woke me up every morning in the sixth grade...
Up on the tight rope,
one side is hate and one is hope...

Like a rubber necked giraffe??
You looked into to my past
And baby you're just too blind to see...

I used to love watching the Roller derby as a kid. The music did rock. I heard it was coming back on TV but never see it.

OK. Mark, YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS....I have LEON all pegged to go this afternoon, only I blogged DELTA LADY (and I've got JOe Cocker there singin' the same thing for comparison and a mildly interesting personal tidbit)
CAN YOU IMAGINE THE COINCIDENCE THAT YOU BLOGGED HIM< TOO? Most people don't even remember Leon Russel (my hero)
Thanks for this...I liked this song very much, too! What a coincidence! I think I've posted Leon ONCE in 2 1/2 years and I get here today and here he is again!?
GeeeZ
Thanks for your comment re Geo Washington..good one.

Hi, just commented to your comment at my place but wanted to come and tell you something else...about Leon.
a few months after Mr. Z died, a blogger I knew from Frontpagemag and who lives here in LA and had met Mr. Z and adored him, emailed asking me if we could have dinner...I said yes and we met and she presented me with a box she'd made celebrating my sweet man.
She'd emailed me asking for a picture "so she could remember him" but used that as a ploy to have a picture for the top of the lovely box......she decoupaged a bunch of very neat stuff on the top and sides...some Bible verses, etc.
mark, my eyes opened wide when I saw "I love you in a place where there's no space and time...Leon Russell"
I said "Did you know I LOVE LEON RUSSELL?" She said "NO, I just thought those words were so nice"..
Imagine THAT? Talk about coincidence.
That line's always been a BIG favorite from a favorite song you know "A SONG FOR YOU"...written by THE MAN.
just wanted to share that.

Lean Russell is seriously underrated. I saw him for old time's sake a year or two ago, here on Long Island. He walked with a cane to get to and and from his piano. But he and his band put on a great show.
