Bad Mannered Conservatives? Shocking!

I know this is old news. I understand that I'm very late with my commentary on this spitting on Congressman Emanuel Cleaver incident.

But I've read several points of view about this, and I have yet to see anyone address it from my perspective. So here goes:

Below is the video of the aforementioned incident:



Notice, in the video, Rep. Cleaver reacts to something that caused him to draw back and turn his head in the direction of one particular protester. He then addresses a police officer directly behind him and points at the man. Shortly afterward, he appears to be wiping something off his face. A few seconds after this, he returns to where the incident supposedly took place with another police officer, and appears to be searching for the culprit in an apparent effort to point him out to the policeman.

Obviously, something happened!

I might add, at this point, in the video, nobody can be heard shouting any racial epithets at all, although the volume is high and very clear.

I know Conservatives have been defending the tea party protesters by insisting the charges of racism and spitting are fabricated, and did not, could not, happen at all.

I say, Representative Cleaver probably did get spit on. And, I believe it was intentional.

There were thousands (or as MSNBC would say, dozens) of protesters on the scene. Why would it be difficult to believe there wouldn't be one or two jerks in the crowd?

Look, Personally, I think anyone who spits in public displays little or no class at all, even if he only spits on the sidewalk. I find that particular behavior disgusting. It is my position that one who spits in public wasn't brought up well.

But that's just me. I am funny that way.

The fact that one or two people attending these tea parties might be classless hicks is not a logic-defying deduction. People of all stripes attend these protests. It isn't shocking that there may be people with no manners there.

I do not condone spitting on any one for any reason.

And, Obama's health care reform is an extremely volatile issue. It would not be the least bit surprising that many of the people attending the protest could let their passions overrule their common sense.

So, could it happen? Absolutely.

Did it happen? Very likely.

I also don't doubt that there may have been one or two racial epithets hurled at the protest. Of course, that accusation would be more believable if it were a Democrat rally.

Although, if MSNBC really wanted to convince people that there actually were (without proof) racial epithets, they would be more convincing if they simply reported the numbers more accurately.

More people, more chance that incidents such as this could happen.

All that said, wouldn't the tea partiers use a better defense if they were to focus on the thousands of people who didn't spit or shout racial epithets, rather than to deny it could have happened at all?

Incidentally, I could use the old, "Well, if you think that's bad look what your side does regularly" type of defense, but that is disingenuous.

As my father would say(and often did), "Two wrongs don't make a right".

Let's be honest. More than likely, a few bad mannered people were numbered among the thousands of protesters at the tea party protesting Obama's America killing health care reform bill. There are a few Democrats that don't like the health reform bill, too, you know.

And, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising or even shocking, that one or two out of the thousands in attendance exhibited some ill advised behavior.

But, look at the thousands that behaved themselves.

Now, that's the real story.

Stop Smearing Christians

Listen: Any group that plans to kill police officers or anybody else is not a Christian group.

True Christians don't murder people.

The very fact that these so-called journalists don't understand this simple fact is proof that the left wing media in this country are atheists.

I get so tired of hearing these leftist media outlets refer to these Godless cults as "Christian". There is nothing Christian about them.

I don't care if they say they're Christian. I don't care if they have the word "Christian" in their name. I don't care if they go to church every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

If they make plans to murder anyone, they are definitely not Christians.

An Idea For Congressional Reform

One of my friends on Facebook recently sent me this:

My friend and neighbor wants to promote a "Congressional Reform Act of 2010". It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I know many of you will say, "this is impossible". Let me remind you, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress - the entity that represents us.

We need to get a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House. These people will become American heroes.

Congressional Reform Act of 2010


1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below:

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

This is about as sensible approach to solving the problems caused by our current representatives as I've seen.

Whatever happens, we need to do some serious house cleaning in November or nothing of significance will change.

I am a Kansan at heart. But, I am proud and happy to claim Virginia as my adopted home. The people here are polite and friendly. And patriotic.

Bless their hearts, that's only part of what I love about Virginians.

Now, here is yet another reason to be proud of Virginia:

Governor Bob McDonnell has signed a bill exempting Virginians from Obama's ambitious and un-Constitutional health reform bill.

From the article:

"This is a historic unfunded mandate on the people of Virginia," McDonnell said at a signing ceremony attended by the sponsors of the bills. "We don't believe that the United States Congress should mandate the purchase of services."

Also, the state Attorney general has filed suit alleging, "the federal health care legislation violates this Virginia bill and the interstate commerce clause, among other things."

The bill passed by wide margins in both houses.

So this means not only Republican lawmakers oppose Obamakare, so do the majority of the Democrats in Virginia.

Thirteen other states have joined a Florida lawsuit challenging the Constitutionality of Obama's health care legislation. Whether these actions succeed or not in helping to defeat Socialism in Virginia, one thing seems abundantly clear:

There will be a major change in leadership in Washington in November.

And it couldn't come too soon.

How To Destroy America Part 1

Well, it's over. The House has passed it's sweeping health care reform bill and Obama has signed it into law.

The local newspaper had a brief summary published on Monday morning. I lost my copy since then. I think my wife threw it away. Anyway, I read the summary of some of the highlights and I only remember the points that were particularly provoking.

One point was this:

Insurance companies will have to sell health insurance policies to people with pre-existing conditions. Any pre-existing conditions. Including Cancer, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and all diseases and maladies that cost millions of dollars and last over decades.

By the way, anytime you read the word, "government", read "you". Because you and I are the government. Anytime the government (you) gives money to anyone regardless of the reason or the form of payment, whether it's cash, credit, etc, it comes out of our pockets.

Keep that in mind when you read summaries of the health care reform bill.

There is a reason health insurance companies haven't accepted pre-existing conditions previously:

They can't afford to pay the benefits.

It makes no difference how much they charge for premiums. But, just for arguments sake, what if they could charge enough for premiums to pay for all the pre-existing life long debilitating and expensive health issues and procedures?

No one could afford to pay the premiums.

So, how does the Government propose to address this obvious problem?

They (we) propose to supply subsidies to help those who can't afford the premiums. What they don't tell you is where this subsidy money will come from. Want a hint?

Can you spell t-a-x-e-s?

(and by the way, what if those subsidies aren't sufficient to pay the premiums that we have to pay to avoid fines or jail time?)

So, what happens to health insurance companies that are forced to charge so much for premiums that no one can afford to pay them?

Well, after no one pays their premiums (which the government has decreed we must do or go to jail), because they can't afford them, because the insurance companies have had to raise prices astronomically, the insurance companies will have to file for bankruptcy and go out of business.

What happens when the health insurance companies go out of business?

Well, the government can now step in and complete their takeover of the Health insurance industry.

But wait. There's more!

Private companies will have to provide health insurance coverage to their employees. No matter how high the premiums. If they don't (or can't) pay the ridiculously high premiums, they face heavy fines.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

What happens when private companies can't pay the insurance premiums?

They file for bankruptcy and go out of business.

Which, again, clears the way for the Government (Obama) to complete the takeover of private industry in America.

If this continues unabated, eventually, Obama will have unfettered control of every man, woman, and child in America.

Just as I (and others) predicted way back before Obama even won the presidency: the official advent of Socialism in America.

Do I even have to explain how the other points will lead to the destruction of America as we know it?

Isn't this enough?

It's About The Intrusion, Stupid! *

On Facebook, My Liberal Democrat Doctor nephew posted a photo of a seemingly offensive sign, with accompanying text, taken at the most recent tea party demonstration in Washington DC:

The sign he was referring to is the "If Brown can't stop it a Browning can" sign shown above.

The first comment made to his post was a sympathetic,

"these people are crazy. Truly, in the most literal sense of the word."

Whereupon I responded(without thinking it out),

"And I suppose that threatening the citizenry with Prison time if they refuse to accept the Government Health care is sane?"

My nephew then proceeded to deconstruct my argument with,

"A protestor threatening to shoot someone if that's what it takes to stop the healthcare bill is more insane than threatening prison for those who fail to pay the tax penalty assessed for refusal to buy health insurance, yes.

I say that, even though i(sic) don't love the idea of the government requiring people to purchase anything"

In essence, he is correct.

Now, I love my nephew and indeed, my whole family, so the exchange left a bitter taste in my mouth. That is why, at 3:30 in the morning, I lay awake in bed with the disturbing feeling that I should have responded more appropriately. So, here, on my blog, I now present my rather lengthy rejoinder to my nephew's comment and subsequent argument:

Kevin (that's his name), I apologize for my somewhat knee-jerk reaction to your post earlier. Certainly offering a justification for what some over-rambunctious tea party attendees do doesn't, as my parents often reminded me, make their actions proper.

Two wrongs really don't make a right.

That said, I really don't have to point out the difference between one or two solitary citizens expressing their frustrations with the Government, and the President, along with some highly influential Democrat leaders wielding their immense powers to intimidate the very people they are supposed to be defending, do I?

I will submit, however, that you may be mis-interpreting the point the attendees are attempting to make.

Mere slogans on a sign don't begin to describe the extent of the frustration felt by the majority of Americans over these intrusive health care reform proposals.

Although I understand I can't speak to what the author of the slogan may have had in mind when he penned it, I would interpret it differently than how it has obviously been perceived by you and others.

I believe the tea party attendee who held the offending sign aloft may be expressing a willingness to defend his liberty by the use of a gun if necessary.

I am referring to the same spirit that created this country in her infancy. Remember, the American revolution didn't start with violence. It began even before those 56 brave men affixed their signatures to the Declaration of Independence.

Were the words on that solitary sheet of parchment all that was needed to secure liberty and freedom for the thousands of oppressed colonists?

Absolutely not!

Ultimately, the words on that document had to be enforced with the use of guns before King George finally released his oppressive hold over our forefathers.

The tea party attendees in question are probably just attempting to send the message that Americans will not stand idly by while our freedoms and liberty are being methodically stripped away.

This, I submit, may be the clumsy motivation behind the offensive signs.

Right or wrong, we cannot simply dismiss this as merely some right wing gun nut with murder in mind.

Many Americans, (Democrats included) feel this health care reform agenda is just the beginning of an unprecedented grab for power.

Kevin, you accidentally touched upon the crux of my personal objection to the health care legislation in your response to my comment:

Personally, I don't have as much a problem with the possible increase of taxes to pay for this reform as I do with the sheer impertinence of the Government telling me they have a right to decide for me what health care I should have, whether I want it or not.

Let me decide that for myself, thank you.

Busted, Disgusted, And Can't Be Trusted

OK. I've been driving the pick-up to work and back, and it doesn't have a radio, so I haven't heard much news or commentary lately. I've been busy doing other things lately, so I haven't been reading blogs, other than Lone Ranger's and Trader Rick's (They both usually compose fairly short pieces and don't take much time to read. Besides, they're usually funny) The preceding post here at Casting Pearls was written after reading an article in the local Fredericksburg, VA newspaper that I found in the lunch room where I work.

So, it was few days after the news came out about Democratic Congressman Eric Massa's scandal provoked resignation from the House of Representatives that I finally heard about it, and then it was only second hand news gleaned from commentators Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin.

Glenn and Michelle, I gathered, had somewhat of a disagreement over Massa's credibility.

From what I understand, Beck provided Massa a bully pulpit from which he proceeded to eviscerate Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Nancy Pelosi and other fellow Democrats over Obama's Health care scam, along with accusations of being forced out of office by Obama and Emanuel's Chicago style thug tactics.

I may not have that completely correct, but that is how I understand the details I've heard so far.

I traveled over to Michelle Malkin's place today to search for her article on the subject and found these words, among others:

Don’t trust Democrat Rep. Eric Massa any further than you can throw him.

He’s been a progressive zealot and political opportunist his entire career. He’s claimed conspiracy before, is intimately bonded with the nutroots, and climbed the political ladder with backing from the odious, anti-war-hoaxer-embracing Gen. Wesley Clark. What Massa dismissively calls his “salty old sailor” talk should raise bright red flags about possible longstanding predatory behavior.

Creep factor: 10...

...He’s a sick, desperate pol looking to save his hide and distract from his smelly ethics problems and personal problems. This is not a hero, not a bona fide champion of reform and integrity in government. He’s the jerk who gave the figurative middle finger to his own constituents as he proclaimed last year that he would ram single-payer down their throats no matter what they thought

Usually, I like and agree with whatever Michelle Malkin writes, but this time, I think there are some points she has failed to consider:

Point number 1. How often do the Democrats resign, or force other Democrats to resign because of some sex scandal? For that matter, any kind of scandal?

We know Republicans will resign at the mere suggestion of impropriety or malfeasance in office, whether any actually exists or not.

But Democrats? This is the first time I've heard of a Democrat Congressman going down so easily without a fight.

Look at Barney Frank as your first, but hardly last example. He's the poster boy for sexual scandals and he's still serving (I use the word "serving" for lack of a more appropriate word). Look at William Jefferson. Look at Edward Kennedy. Look at Charlie Rangel.

Keep looking. Scandal after scandal after scandal after scandal in the Democratic party. And yet, again and again they stay there and continue serving.

I can only think of one Republican lawmaker (Larry Craig) at this writing who refused to resign after being accused of a scandal.

The term, "Sex scandal" and the title, "Democrat" has been nearly synonymous in this age of the Kennedy dynasty.

So why is a sex scandal enough to force Massa to resign, unless there is an ulterior motive? Why is Eric Massa suddenly singled out for membership in the Congressional Hall of Shame?

May I offer my opinion?

I tend to think this time, and possibly, for the first time in his life, he's telling the truth. He was forced to resign to make room for a Democrat Congressperson who will support Obama's health care scam.

Let's examine his motives, both before and after the so-called scandal, shall we?

As Ms. Malkin accurately points out, Massa has been the consummate Liberal Democrat throughout his years in the House.

What did she say?

Oh, yes, here it is:

"He’s been a progressive zealot and political opportunist his entire career. He’s claimed conspiracy before, is intimately bonded with the nutroots, and climbed the political ladder with backing from the odious, anti-war-hoaxer-embracing Gen. Wesley Clark."

Yep. Yep. Yep. And yep.

What were his motives then?

Getting elected and re-elected. Pandering to his Liberal base. Ingratiating himself and endearing himself to his better known, more powerful peers in the Democratic party. Doing what is expected from Liberal Democrats. Mounting successful campaigns, as determined by his Liberal constituency in focus groups and polls.

In short, doing and saying whatever he believes is necessary to appease his constituency.

But, suddenly, Massa is revealed to have "groped" a male staffer, and subsequently resigns---on the heels of his announcement that (gasp)he will not back Obama's health care scam.

Coincidence?

Heh, heh, heh.

Again, let's look at what else Michelle had to say about this rather curious turn of unfortunate events:

"Look, I’m as happy as anyone to see Rahmbo and the Chicago Way slammed so openly by another Democrat. Naked shower fights? Blue-on-blue catfights?

Yep, it confirms everything I’ve been writing about the Obama Culture of Corruption the last two years."

Yep again.

Michelle believes what Massa said about underhanded Chicago style thug tactics. She has to. She's been "writing about the Obama culture of Corruption the last two years".

Then she writes, "He’s (Massa)a sick, desperate pol looking to save his hide and distract from his smelly ethics problems and personal problems."

Yep again, and this leads us to point number 2:

Uh, no, Michelle. He isn't. He is an ex pol who no longer has a motive to lie. He is no longer a Congressman. Now, he can feel free to be truthful.

He has nothing left to lose.

He's already lost his hide. His smelly ethics problems and personal problems are already well known and documented.

Now, as I see it, his only motive is to take down those who ruined his career with him.

He did simply what he has been doing throughout his political career: Listening and pandering to his base.

Except, this time, his base expressed their displeasure with Obama's ambitious plans to enslave every American with the heaviest tax burden in history.

This time, Eric Massa decided to vote the way his constituents wanted.

And he was disgraced and humiliated by his own party for his efforts.

Yes, Michelle, don't trust him. But, don't dismiss him, either.

Another One (School System) Bites The Dust

This is where Federal integration policies get you. From an AP article I found in the Washington Times (Because the Times article was the first one I found doing a Google search for an article I read in our local Fredericksburg paper, not because the Times is any more Conservative than any other paper):

It wasn't supposed to be this way.

Kansas City appeared headed for a recovery when a federal judge in 1985 declared the district was unconstitutionally segregated. To boost test scores, integrate the schools and repair decrepit classrooms, the state was ordered to spend about $2 billion to address the problems.

The district went on a buying spree that included a six-lane indoor track and a mock court complete with a judge's chamber and jury deliberation room. But student achievement remained low, and the anticipated flood of students from the suburbs turned out to be more like a trickle. Court supervision of the desegregation case ended in 2003.

And to this day, the district continues to lose students. In the late 1960s enrollment peaked at 75,000, dropped to 35,000 a decade ago and now sits at just under 18,000.

(Note from yours truly: This, in a city with a population of over 400,000)

Only about half of Kansas City's elementary school students and about 40 percent of middle and high school students now attend the city's public schools. Many of the other students have left for publicly funded charter schools, private and parochial schools and the suburbs.

(Another side note: This article fails to point out that many other KC students dropped out of school, and are now earning their living as crack and meth dealers on the corners of intersections throughout the city's expansive ghetto. I lived there for many years. I know.)

Fewer students means the district gets less money from the state.

At the height of spending in 1991-92, Kansas City invested more than $11,700 per student, more than double that year's national average of $5,001, according to U.S. Census figures. Today, the district spends an average of $15,158 on each student, compared to a national average of $9,666 in 2006-07, the latest figures available.

Pay attention, Liberals.

The district was headed for recovery when the Federal Government got involved, and decided the school system wasn't integrated enough, so, in typical Liberal fashion, they threw money at the perceived problem, with the usual results.

My father used to say, "If it works, don't fix it."

It seems the Federal Government wasn't listening.

As a past Kansas City area resident, I remember a few years ago when the Kansas City School system lost it's accreditation due to low academic test scores. This school system has been a great example of how successful the Federal Government is in running our nation's education system. It's no wonder the US ranks far below other countries in education.

This is just another example of the failure of Liberal policies. And, as Neil points out, another example of how Liberal policies, despite their protestations to the contrary, are in reality, racist.

What's In My Head

I've been trying to find this song somewhere off and on for over 20 years. Part of the problem in finding it was I had some crazy notion that it was recorded by Pay Price. I don't know how I got that idea.

Thoughts On Earthquakes.

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24:7-8

In the first story I read about the latest Earthquake, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet was quoted as saying, "If there are more aftershocks, people in coastal areas should try to escape to higher ground."

Higher ground.

Those words jumped out at me, because they brought to mind similar words I remember reading in the Bible. I didn't remember where those words were, initially, and I had to do some extensive searching to find them, but here, in Matthew 24, they are:

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

Flee into the mountains.

The story also brought to mind other Biblical predictions which referred to earthquakes and pestilences in diverse places in the last days.

Now, I'm not trying to make the point that we are living in "the last days". That's for each individual to interpret for himself.

I would like to point out, however, that one must bear in mind that Biblical prophecy does not refer to only those of us here in the United States alone. We know that, of course, but I think many times we Americans tend to relate Biblical prophecy in terms of America, and kind of forget God speaks to the entire world.

For example, often we hear some United States President or other American political leader being referred to as the antichrist. But, in fact, eschotological scholars all agree that that the antichrist will emerge from the Middle East.

Perhaps Kenya?

The aforementioned AP story also mentioned that the Chilean earthquake came on the heels of a strong earthquake that rocked Japan mere hours earlier.

This may or may not be significant, as Arizona State University Geologist, J. Ramón Arrowsmith points out, “From our human perspective with our relatively short and incomplete memories and better and better communications around the world, we hear about more earthquakes and it seems like they are more frequent...But this is probably not any indication of a global change in earthquake rate of significance.”

Or, I might add, of any Global Climate change.

Immediately upon hearing of the earthquake in Chili, I just knew some so-called scientists would blame Global Warming. So far as I know, they haven't yet. But, some non-scientists have, including leftist actor Danny Glover, and several commenters at the Huffington Post and Democratic Underground.

Not that the theory hasn't been posited by scientists in the past. They just haven't blamed these latest earthquakes on GW. Yet.

I don't know what point, if any, I'm making here. These are just some things I've been thinking of lately.

Perhaps they are worth discussion?

I found this video over at Timothy's place.



They are a great band with a common sense message.

We often hear the principles in arguments accuse each other of "moving the goalposts". This means changing the focus of a process or competition by one side in order to regain advantage when it becomes obvious the argument is failing.

Both Liberals and Conservatives are guilty of changing the focus of an argument when their argument begins to falter.

Usually, the charge of moving the goalposts is ambiguous at best. It isn't always clear what goal post has been moved, or by whom.

But in the Global Warming, Climate Change, or the phrase du jour argument, there is no more classic a case of moving the goal posts.

Global Warming proponents gained the advantage early in convincing gullible people that the Globe was indeed warming. But, in the last several years, it has become increasingly obvious that not only is the globe not warming, it is beginning to get colder.

Therefore, when the arguments in favor of GW began to unravel, Al Gore and his minions "moved the goalposts", by changing the phrasology from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change".

I have to admit, this was a very clever move.

Now, it doesn't matter what the climate does. It no longer matters which way the average global temperature moves, or by how much. Al Gore's people simply attribute whatever happens to Climate Change, and they cannot be wrong.

Of course, the climate has been constantly changing since God created the world, so they will always be right, unless the climate stops changing.

And that brings up another point:

All those who claim to be Christians but believe in man-made Global Climate Change demonstrate they have little or no faith in God. If they did, they'd know God is in control, and nothing man can do can ever wrest that control from Him. And, they wouldn't worry about the future of the planet.

If we can't trust God to keep us safe, who can we trust?

The Green Police

My Liberal Doctor nephew placed this statement on his Facebook status on Super Bowl Sunday:

"I kinda liked the Green Police Audi ad."

He was updating his readers on the ads airing during the Superbowl. He was, as expected, unimpressed with Focus on the Family's Tim Tebow Right to life ad (as was I,) and seemed to think most of the other ads were chauvinistic.

But it was obvious that he thought the green police ad was his favorite. In fact, his first unedited comment about it was something like, "I really love the green police Audi ad!"

I say "something like" because he changed the wording after a commenter or two pointed out the disturbing aspect.

Personally, I found the ad troubling to say the least.

I'm sure the Audi company thought this was a cleverly humorous ad, but for me it appears frighteningly prophetic.

We are already seeing, right here in America, efforts to bring this fantasy to reality. Part of Obama's as yet relatively unheralded environmentalist policy is indeed, to outlaw incandescent light bulbs, among some equally intrusive "green" policies.

And, there is already an organization called the Green Police dedicated to monitoring the amount of environmental abuses.

It's perplexing to me that someone who claims to be caring and freedom loving, etc, would find this prophetic vision of a not-too-distant futuristic America particularly provocative.

Perhaps I am overreacting?

A Sign From God?

I don't usually adhere to the notion that God sends plagues or pestilences down to punish the wicked, but these series of unusually severe snowstorms that have been slamming us here in the Washington DC area are starting to make me think perhaps God is trying to get someone's attention.

Someone like these Senators and Congressmen, including our so-called President (I say so-called because he isn't my President, as far as I'm concerned)and his staff. They have been pushing this stupid global warming agenda (in spite of mountains of evidence to the contrary), and I am beginning to think God has had about enough of these mere men (and women) thinking they have control over the weather.

I heard this morning, that Washington DC has suffered the brunt of the storms with over three feet of snow so far and more expected.

It's almost as if the amount of snow is in direct proportion to the amount of arrogance in that city.

Listen:

Mere mortals have no control over the weather.

None!

We cannot create any kind of climate change be it global warming or global cooling. Neither can we fix it if it happens. We never could. We never will.

If we could control the weather, we could prevent these monstrous blizzards that are crippling the mid-Atlantic region right now!

Now. If I was one who believed God sends severe storms on people to punish them for their arrogance and haughty spirits, I would say the blanket of snow now burying DC is a message from God.

A call for repentance to those who contend they know better than God what's best for the people.

As an aside, It seems to me that Christians who believe in some kind of man-made climate change such as Global Warming are placing their faith in the wrong God. Do you know what I mean?

Remember the Old Testament incident (it's in Numbers 20) in which Moses got impatient and struck the rock violently twice to produce the water for the Hebrew children?

Remember? God told him to speak to the rock and the water would flow, but Moses got impatient and arrogant, and demonstrated that he thought he knew better than God how to produce the water.

Remember?

Does that remind you of anyone today?

How did God respond? That seemingly minor impertinence cost Moses the chance to enter the Promised land, did it not?

If that little minor demonstration of arrogance was bad enough to earn punishment of Moses so severely, how much more should the arrogance of our so-called leaders cost them?

I'm just asking questions that should make some people think.

Now. I don't really believe God works that way nowadays. I think, in these Messianic times, God saves our punishments for the hereafter.

But I do believe that God sometimes sends messages to remind us Who's really in control.

Hint: It isn't us.

The only thing we have to do is be smart enough to realize what the message is and Who's sending it to us, and then, to change our ways accordingly.

But, alas, I don't think they're getting the message.

Snowed In

I am snowed in today, and unable to go to work. I don't know how deep it is out there, but the street has not yet been plowed, and is not passable.

And the snow is still falling. Meteorologists are predicting it won't stop until about 10 PM.

This is about the fourth significant snowfall we've had here in Virgina this winter, and I understand more is coming in a few days.

I hate snow. I can't remember ever liking snow. Even as a child, my first memory of snow was walking home from school in snow up to my hips. When I got home, my feet itched from near frostbite. I was miserable.

I'd like to have Al Gore right here in front of me to re-explain Global Warming to me. And maybe shovel my driveway.

If we get much more of this Global Warming, we're all going to freeze to death.

Every year I make this vow:

"I'm moving to Arizona."

But, of course I won't. But every time I say it, I really mean it.

This year my vow is somewhat different:

I'm going to throw a snow shovel over my shoulder, and start heading south until someone stops me and says, "What the heck is that there thang there?"

And then I'll settle down.

On the back wall of the electronics department at WalMart is a bank of HD-LCD Televisions. They play a loop of advertisements of WalMart products plus short interviews of the WalMart music "artist of the month". As I walked by, the loop played about 4 or 5 notes of a song being sung by one of these artists. It sounded just like "Streets of Laredo" to me. Now I can't get that song out of my head.



A cowboy song isn't a cowboy song unless it's performed by Marty Robbins. Or the Sons of the Pioneers, but they were a group. I mean a solo artist.

The Business Of Being President

Barack Hussein Obama recently made a comment that made me so angry, I had to wait until now to write a commentary. Now that I've calmed down somewhat, I will comment.

I was watching a report on TV about Obama stumping for Martha Coakley in Massachusetts, when the news program played a clip of Obama announcing his plan to charge a fee to banks and institutions who are giving millions of dollars of bonuses to their executives.

I had to google it to find it, and I confess, what I found isn't exactly what I heard, but it is essentially the same thing. This is from FOX news' website,

...Obama, striking an emphatic and populist tone, said Thursday that he is determined to recoup every dollar spent from the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program to rescue Wall Street firms with a new tax on the largest banks.

"We want our money back and we're going to get it," he said.

Obama described bank bonuses as "obscene" and said the new tax would cover a projected $117 billion shortfall in the government's financial crisis bailout fund.

Upon hearing the report, I gasped in amazement.

Isn't Obama Harvard educated?

Is he not considered by Democrats to be something of a genius?

He's the (illegally) duly elected President of the United States, is he not?

Doesn't attaining the office of President of the United States imply he has at least as much intelligence as a fifth grader?

Then why doesn't he understand simple arithmetic?

Why does he not understand basic business principles?

I am not a businessman, but even I understand businesses compensate for loss of profits by raising prices on goods and services.

How does Obama's ambitious plan affect business?

Look. It's simple:

If Obama charges a fee or a tax to the corporations who pay "obscene" bonuses, the companies will simply raise their prices on goods and services. If, as he says, he only charges banks new taxes or fees, they will pass the loss in profit onto their customers in the form of higher fees and prices.

Those customers include every business that every one of us does business with on a daily basis.

Grocery stores, Department stores, Home improvement companies--name one.

Name any.

Name them all.

They all do business with banks.

And what happens if banks pass their expenses on to their customers? Well, naturally, their customers pass their expenses on to us.

The consumers.

They also lay off employees because they can no longer afford to pay them.

Let's see now. How does Obama's plan of charging more fees or taxes to banks create his promised hope?

How does it create change?

I hope he doesn't.

It's Change for the worse.

It Aint Over Yet

Just when Harry Reid has us convinced he is a total moron, he does or says something that indicates he is diabolically clever.

Shortly after receiving the news of Republican Scott Brown's election to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, Reid magnanimously announced Senator-elect Brown will be seated, "as soon as the proper paperwork has been received."

Paperwork.

Aye, there's the rub.

There has been some speculation that the Senate will attempt to push the Obamacare bill through with some obscure ruling that somehow bypasses getting the approval of the House of Representatives. I'm not exactly sure what the procedure is, but that's what I've been told. That could be done quickly, before the "proper papers" can be received.

And Harry Reid knows it.

Another way (and the most obvious) Reid and Pelosi and the rest of the gang of Obama thugs can pass Obama care without allowing Brown to vote would be to delay the processing of the "proper papers" until after the vote.

We all know how long it takes the government to produce needed paperwork depending on it's importance.

There is most likely a myriad of ways Harry and the gang can sneak Obamacare into law without relying on Scott Brown's vote.

Don't count Obamacare out yet.

Don't assume the worst is over.

Don't think the Democrats have lost yet. There are likely many more aces up their sleeves.

Harry (and Obamacare) won't go down that easily.

This fight will not be won until we can vote that gang of crooks out of office.

I watched as much of the video he linked to as I could, which led me to respond to that, before I watched Rick's video, and since my comment was so lengthy, I decided to post it in it's entirety here:

Yes, Wulf, it's easy to take any media out of context, but in Obama's case it would require the willing suspension of disbelief to ignore all the warning signs, such as those demonstrated in the video, his incessant apologies to our enemies, his statements that we are not a Christian nation, that we are a Muslim nation, his bowing and fawning to our enemies, his love affairs with every evil, communist dictator in the world, his snubbing our allies' leaders, his reckless policies that treat enemy combatants as if they are merely common criminals, his background of Muslim education, his Muslim father, his questionable birthplace, his hatred and disrespect for the Constitution, his choice of friends, acquaintances, mentors, and subversive cabinet members and judges, his cavalier attitude regarding national security, his socializing of medicine (which hasn't worked in any socialist country where it has been tried, and won't work here), etc.

If he isn't a closet Muslim intent on destroying "The great Satan" from within, he is at least a Marxist, intent on creating a Marxist state right here in the land of the free.

And with useful idiots like you to help drive his agenda, Wulf, it's easy to see how he might accomplish such lofty goals.

A Flashback

While perusing the media coverage of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti, I had a flashback.

Does anyone remember a storm that hit New Orleans, Louisiana a couple of years ago?

In the aftermath of that storm, fingers were pointed. Blame was assigned. Remember?

It was George W. Bush's fault. It was FEMA's fault. I seem to remember Reverend (and I use the term loosely) Pat Robertson saying Hurricane Katrina was a judgment from God because of the hedonism and debauchery that runs rampant in the city. Well, he's at it again, isn't he? I wish he'd just shut up. He's giving real Christians a bad rep.

The storm changed the perspective of many people, including myself. Another blogger who I considered one of my best blogger buddies at the time was changed also.

I became less racist. He became more Liberal. Fanatically more Liberal. He is absolutely mad now.

He is married to a so-called intellectual. She is a doctor of some sort (he never enlightened his blog readers what she is a doctor of), who lectures all over the country, and also a raving Liberal.

She had her own blog. On her blog, she announced George Bush was at fault because a hospital ship was a day or two tardy getting to the port of New Orleans to aid in the rescue operations there.

Yes, I know, the connection between the two is tenuous at best, but I seem to recall her biased assessment of the situation made a sort of discombobulated sense in a Liberal, pseudo-intellectual kind of way. Somehow, it was the President's fault.

I wish I could explain her logic but it appears her blog is now non-existent, and frankly, I don't remember much of what she wrote, except that she blamed the President.

The media coverage I was referring to in the first paragraph was this. Here's a teaser for those who don't follow links:

Why aren't Liberal bloggers and the state run media blaming Obama?

Hurricane Katrina was all Bush's fault. Remember? At least that's what we were told.

The media says so. It must be true. Right?

I wonder how Rahm Emanuel and Obama and the rest of the gang can turn this latest crisis into a political advantage.

Listen: If Hurricane Katrina was George W. Bush's fault, then it stands to reason the blame for the Haitian earthquake lies squarely on Barack Hussein Obama's shoulders.

What are we going to do about that?

What's Still In My Head

My multitude of readers will, I hope, forgive me for posting this song again, but the act of posting songs on my blog in an effort to get them out of my head has apparently failed me this time.

It's still there.

It won't go away.

Twenty or thirty years from now, when I am lying on my death bed, some loved one might very possibly lean over me to hear the whispered last words issuing from betwixt my fevered lips. As my life ebbs away, he or she will likely be somewhat perplexed by the significance of these pearls of wisdom accompanying my last labored breath of life:

And, if there remains any vestige of a long neglected insignificant blog somewhere on an antiquated internet, one might search and subsequently find, by referencing those enigmatic words, just what in the Sam Hill I meant.

And, like the word, "Rosebud", perhaps those words will spawn a book or film with the lasting cultural impact of a "Citizen Kane".

What's Happening Part II

Thanks to those who expressed sympathy for me and my family on the loss of my Father-in-law. We had a military funeral attended by an honor guard, presentation of the flag, and playing of Taps. It was very moving.

And cold.

My poor shoeless foot was friz by the time it was over, but I'd suffer through it again for Doc. He deserves so much more for his faithful service to his country and his God than a simple graveside service. The preacher did a fine job, and even included some of my words from my tribute to Doc in his sermon.

For those of you who suggested I go to the doctor (before Obamacare takes over) for my injured ankle -- I did, and the X-ray proved I was correct in my self diagnosis. There were no broken bones. It is simply a severe sprain, but I was given a rigid brace to wear to help me walk around without the use of crutches. This will come in pretty handy when I return to work on Sunday. I am already walking much better, but am still in quite a bit of pain.

What's Happening

Ok. So here's what's been happening:

Those of my readers who have been reading this blog long enough may remember I have written about my Father-in-law a couple of times. If you haven't, you may read the first piece I wrote about him here.

Well, on Monday, December 21, CPO Robert (Doc) Johnson took his final voyage, and is now resting in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.

My wife had just returned home from a doctor's visit, and found him on the floor of his bedroom. Apparently, he had fallen either getting into bed or getting out. Her friend and her got him back up on his bed whereupon he complained of having difficulty breathing. he then stopped breathing. My wife's friend administered CPR, and was able to bring him back temporarily, but he passed out again. The paramedics arrived, continued to administer CPR, placed him into the ambulance, but he was dead upon arrival at the hospital. He had suffered a cardiac arrest and went quickly, apparently with little or no suffering.

We celebrated Christmas but it was understandably subdued. His absence diminished the usual joy of the celebration, but we soldiered on. We felt he would have wanted it that way.

My wife asked me to write his obituary, which I did, and it was a very nice one, although I feel I didn't do him justice. The funeral home informed us that the local newspaper charged a fee for every line printed in the paper, so I had to edit the obit even further to meet budget.

That seems a little bit unfair to me. I wrote the obituary. Seems to me, if there is a fee for printing it, they should pay me for writing an article for them. They have staff people they pay specifically to write obits. I know they don't demand payment from their staff for writing obituaries. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. It just seems wrong to me.

Anyway, the final draft seems a rather inglorious tribute to one who deserved so much better.

Robert Pierce (Doc) Johnson

On Monday, December 21, Robert Pierce (Doc) Johnson went home and is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. He was 87.

Doc was born November 3, 1922 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the ninth of twelve children, to Philip Edward Johnson and Lillian Sullivan Johnson. He grew up in Chatham Heights, and was a lifetime resident of Fredericksburg.

He joined the Navy on his 17th birthday and served gallantly in World War II, surviving the sinking of his ship, the USS Colhoun, off the coast of Guadalcanal. He served 20 years in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, and upon retirement, worked another 22 years at Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center as a supervisor in the ordnance department and eventually retired at the Shell house. He then worked at the Fredericksburg Auto Auction for an additional 18 years, retiring finally at the age of 80.

Doc was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Howard Johnson, and by his brothers, Sidney, Larry, Melvin, Woodrow, Eugene, Samuel, Leonard, Edward,, and his sister, Elizabeth J. Weisner.

He is survived by his precious daughter, Patricia Anne Johnson ******, her husband Mark of Fredericksburg, and two brothers, James Johnson of Monterey, Virginia and William Johnson of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Virgie Howard, brother-in-law Carlton Howard, numerous nieces and nephews, and his 5 constant companions, dogs Holley, Suzie, Katie, Cody, and cat, Muffy.

Doc is also survived by his “special” daughter Stacy Lynch Muehlhauser, who cared for him with love and compassion.

Mr. Johnson’s life was defined by his unshakable faith in God, unconditional love for his family, and undying devotion to his country. He once said of his service in the Navy, “We weren’t special. We were just doing our job”, an attitude that in itself, made him a very special man indeed.

He will be missed by all who knew him, but we are comforted by the knowledge that he will celebrate Christmas forever with his wife, siblings and parents.

Then there were the usual announcements of time and place for the viewing and the funeral.

On Tuesday this week we had the wake. But before the wake, my wife and I had to begin packing and moving from our senior citizen's community apartment into her father's house. We will be living there from now until we decide what we will do with it later.

Just 3 hours before the scheduled viewing time, while walking out of the house to grab another item off the truck, I apparently stepped onto the edge of the step, felt my ankle roll, and tumbled to the ground. I suffered a severe sprain to my right ankle.

Too late to go to the emergency room and still be on time for the wake, my wife wrapped my ankle with an Ace bandage, and I attended the wake, and subsequently, the next day's funeral, on crutches.

I am still in severe pain. There has been no time to see a doctor. I am hoping the ankle will heal well enough that I will be able to return to work after my bereavement leave is up. Fortunately, I was already scheduled for the next two days off immediately after the bereavement leave, so that will give me a couple of more days to mend. At this point, I feel like I may never get better. It's frustrating.

In the meantime, we have to be vacated from our apartment by the 31st, and I cannot walk. I can't do anything to help in the moving process, so hopefully, the two friends we have who have volunteered to help us move will be able to complete the task for me.

I really hate to have to let others do the job I'm supposed to do, but I am incapacitated at this point.

So, as one can see, I've been a little busy lately, and haven't had much time to blog.

Not that I would have written anything anyway. There is only so many ways and times that I can express my outrage at the direction Obama is leading this country. I feel that anything else I have to say would be redundant. Everyday is the same. Obama appears on TV everyday, and announces in the most innocuous terms that he is going to make yet another power grab or yet another conciliatory gesture to our enemies.

It has become expected. The death of democracy in America has become mundane. There's nothing I alone can do. It will take a concerted effort, or even a revolution to stop this spiral into fascism.

All I can do is watch.

Rush Limbaugh was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pains, and the Liberals are peeing their pants with glee.

If I hear another Liberal tell me how compassionate and caring Liberals are, he'd better be able to outrun me.

With all the forces of darkness hard at work all around us, sometimes it's difficult to remember Who's really in control.

At Christmas time, Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, the rightful King of this world.

Often we need to be reminded of the lesson contained within the words of this song, particularly when our country's leaders seem so bound and determined to destroy this great country.

And in despair I bowed my head.

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep,

What should we do with (or, more to the point, to) AlGore?

Other con-men (such as Bernie Madoff) have been convicted to life imprisonment for perpetrating fraud on a much smaller scale than Gore's.

Can the punishment even begin to fit the crime in this case?

The news just keep getting funnier and funnier as Obama and his legion of empty-headed lemming-like Liberal followers continue pushing the envelope over the edge to complete absurdity.

This is what you won't hear from the so-called mainstream media regarding the big "Climate Change" (Global Warming) conference currently taking place despite sub-zero temperatures in Copenhagen, Denmark:


"The problem: despite some two years of planning, the United Nations organizers failed to come up with a way to fit the 45,000 people they registered for the conference into the 15,000 person capacity Bella Center. Oops.

This entire circus would be funnier if not for what is at stake: trillions of dollars in regulatory actions and billions of dollars in aid to developing nations. And, if there were to be some miracle and nations in attendance did sign an agreement, who would be in charge of monitoring all these agreed to carbon reductions and oversight of all that development aid? The same entity that can’t even figure out that 45,000 people won’t fit into a 15,000 person building; the United Nations."

Somehow, it seems the irony of discussing solutions to Global Warming in freezing temperatures and monumentally poor planning by those geniuses who want us to believe they know what's best for us escapes the fawning media.

But wait! There's more!

All the news, be it from the radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and even Uncle Jay, have been repeating the line, "Obama accepts peace prize shortly after sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan".

The media seems to think this is ironic.

It isn't, for many reasons.

For one, he only sent a fraction of the troops General McCrystal asked for. This was not done to bring a victorious end to the hostilities. This was done so Obama can look as if he really has America's interests at heart. He wants those few ignorant bastards who still think he's their savior to continue to believe he is a leader.

It's all about Obama.

It always has been.

In other words, the increase in troops was all show to enhance Obama's supposed status as a world leader.

As is his attendance at the Climate Change (Global warming) conference.

For another, the Media continues to delude themselves (and, presumably, the American public) with the wrong-headed theory that war cannot bring about peace despite thousands of years of incontrovertible evidence to the contrary. Therefore, increasing the troops could conceivably bring about peace, although, as I already pointed out, in this case it is too little, too late, so it won't).

But, if it works, it truly would be an accomplishment actually worthy of a peace prize.

I have always suspected Obama is a closet Muslim on a mission to destroy America as we know it, and install some kind of Sharia law type nation, and nothing he has done or said so far has proven me wrong, so, if by some chance, the increase in troop strength does manage to bring about peace in the Middle East...

Well.... that would really be ironic.

I'm Not The President....
